9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe regret sending our kids to Marie Murphy. Although our kids had a few outstanding teachers and classes, in most classes they were bored and learned very little. Marie Murphy does not differentiate teaching or curriculum for students who learn faster or slower. I've heard from a number of parents that the special education services are bad. It's a poorly managed school and school district. Our kids and their friends hated it.Parent Review2y ago - Avoca West Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child didn’t have a good experience here. This school doesn’t do anything about the bullying, in their grade and it’s been 4 or 5 weeks and nobody has said anything. Another thing that didn’t give my child a good experience here is the math curriculum and homework. The homework the children receive take less than five minutes to do since they only hand out a single piece of paper instead of packets and multiple sheets of homework. The math curriculum is poor and they need to step it up a notch. It’s to easy for my children and I’m sure others. I wouldn’t recommend this school because they have good teachers but also sour teachers. The good teachers are to easy on the students and whenever kids whisper in class they don’t care. The sour teachers are more strict on students. I’m concerned about the bullying and homework mostly especially that they don’t teach enough about money at this school, I asked my child “ what is “25x8” and they didn’t know. Kids at this school get made fun of here and it’s not cool because nobody does anything! I wouldn’t recommend moving in the area to go to this school.Parent Review2mo ago - Check out schools near 3518 Riverside Dr.

"Easy to commute to downtown via Metra. Not always easy to find parking at Metra after 7:15. A lot of people walk. Possible to drive downtown but takes up to 90 minutes in morning rush. "

"Having a CTA station within a mile from our house makes the commute to Chicago doable. Depending on the day driving to and from the city during rush hour using Lakeshore or 94 is a hassle..."

"Certain parks are closed to dogs, but overall this is a dog friendly neighborhood. Also most of the parks have a poop bag station."

"Great. All back roads to NU. never have to get on the free way. Only mild back UPS on Greenbay avenue during rush hour. There are lots of schools along the way which can slow you down due to buses and speed zones but that is the least of my worries "

"I have lived on and off in Wilmette for 30+ years. Grew up here. Eventually moved back here to raise my own family. Its one of the safest places in the country. The schools are excellent. The parks are beautiful, clean and have updated equipment. The Park District, With all that it has to offer for kids and adults, is incredible. The people are actively involved throughout the neighborhood. There are a few new dining and nightlife venues that are helping to make Wilmette all inclusive. Access to a great pool facility and one of the best beaches on the North shore just make it for this area. I highly recommend Wilmette to any young couple getting started, to anyone wanting to raise a family and to those looking to finish out their lives filled with quiet beauty in a safe place."

"Have lived here for 10 years. The schools are superb and the people are like people anywhere. Some are nice and some are snotty but you can ignore them. Its great for the things that matter. Traffic getting into Chicago is usually bad but the Metra train is great."

"Walking distance to everything - CTA, Metra, Parks, Beach, shopping in Wilmette and Evanston Central St. area. And a short drive to Sheridan Road/LSD and i-94.Phenomenal for families of all ages with nationally recognized and award winning schools. A fantastic and safe neighborhood and a hidden gem that borders Evanston. If there's a house that's within your budget range, make an offer - you will not be disappointed. "

"I used to live in this community years ago and loved every day. There are two malls within walking distance. A couple of bus lines that can take you the the downtown train. Excellent expressway access going both north or south. The Park district is right across the street with an amazing Gym, child care and much, much more. LOVE Wilmette, and this area of it."
