Beautiful restored Victorian built around 1900 and owned by Justice Duncan of the IL Supreme Court. The house is on the soon-to-be-restored historic brick section of S. Market right off the Square. The home features original stained glass windows, ten foot ceilings, a hand carved original fireplace and front door, original hardwood floors in many rooms, original claw-foot tub, and an open flowing floor plan. Five bedrooms in the house, but two rooms used as office and game room. Two automatic gas fireplaces downstairs with eat-in kitchen and side kitchen office nook. Three bedrooms located on the second floor with a jacuzzi tub in the master suite and a walk out balcony. Hot water heating (radiators); central AC added; storm windows added; walls insulated; and a brand-new roof.

The property boasts flower beds, a pool (above ground pool but built into the ground with redwood deck), two car enclosed garage (with full storage upstairs) and matching third garage, freshly painted siding, huge fully fenced backyard, and a pool storage shed. The last appraisal report indicated square footage at 3558 sq ft net livable area measured, but this doesn’t include the partially finished basement. The lot is about one acre and includes two parcels (one with the house and second including backyard and large portions of land behind the house). It appears that the lot is the highest point on S. Market inside the city (and you can see very far from the master bedroom deck).

We have owned the house since 2013 and completed significant work: new pool liner and solid safety cover; complete roof with Victorian trim replaced and most of the siding painted with window trim replaced; security system; removed carpet in a large portion of the downstairs and restored original hardwoods; added third garage; removed large trees and planted various new hardwoods; new driveway rock.

Some items available with house—grand piano, antique dining buffet, large gun safe, pool table and other furniture. We hate to leave but accepted a new job and moving to Ohio in August.
