1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI also attended this school about 12 years ago. Indeed there were teachers who expressed an interest in the education of certain students. Then again there were those (teachers) who slept during class. I am happy for those of you who actually succeded but let me tell you, statistically, it is a very select few. Only a handful of people get good jobs and only in areas like computer maintenance and kitchen labor. This school does not offer anything promising. I always thought of it as a daycare for the older, more troubled youth. I am embarrased to have attended this high school. Just read the other reviews to get an idea of the type of education one recieved, i.e spelling & grammar. Then go read Whitney Young reviews. I wish my parents had let me attend Young when I got accepted upon graduating elementary school. Their ignorance in the importance of education and safety taught me to encourage my child to achieve all she can. All I can do is support her and work hard to give her what I was denied. I am extremely content to say she is in a very prestigious magnet school because I knew she did not belong in these neighborhood schools. 3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school does not keep soap in the bathroom so the kids can wash there hands I am always telling them they need soap it's been a week since the bathroom had soap an now there are on one road of toilet tissue an have a little paper towels n the bathroom when the kids come n from playing outside there is no hand sanitizer in the lunch room for about a month it's own the second month of school an there is no soap n the bathroom so the kids have to eat there food with dirty hands they can not get no hand sanitizer from the lunch room you have kids and adults dieting from different virus they the best thing is to keep your hands wash you can not do that with no soap an sanitizerParent Review9y ago

"The commute is really good it’s about 15-20 to downtown Chicago. Ashland and Halsted are near by if you have to go Northside or south side. I like to take Racine north to get to downtown faster. Cuts your commute if train is not passing by. "

"There are a lot of restaurants and shops. It is convenient to take public transportation. It is not 100% safety but it is not really bad area. People around here , they are hard workers. The area is not much beautiful. Only Some in front of house do not cut glass or clean much. "
