Too much focus on woke and unimportant issues and not enough on providing children with a solid education and discipline. 3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI wanted to leave an updated review. My child went to preschool at WSS and now is in kindergarten. They are very receptive, works with families and my child loves the Metro program! I like the comfortable and flexible environment. They use the app well to communicate to families about things that are happening. I like the Urban setting of WSS, and my child loves the fact that his school is in "his city". They have diversity in families and children they serve. So far so good in our early school career. I am happy with the choice of enrolling my child there and he is thriving. Working with the school team to identify possible problems and working through solutions. This school is not under the same principal from earlier reviews. My child is very proud of the character awards they give at school.Parent Review2y ago

"Downtown is a convenient location to access the river walk way as well as the bike path that leads to Gray's Lake for daily dog walks and green space. Dog waste bags are provided every couple blocks downtown in case you don't have any on hand. The Riverwalk dog park is a short drive/bike ride away for off leash exercise."

"Lots to do. Shows, concerts, restaurants. Seasonal arts, food etc. However no shopping downtown. Not a true live work and play community yet. Also trying to get biking easier but still needs work. "

"I have lived in this neighborhood for 13 years, and I love it! It is close to restaurants, entertainment, a post office and grocery store. Exercise options are many, and a fun atmosphere in a metropolitan area!"

"Downtown Des Moines is small, easily navigated, and is pretty quiet. There are usually plenty of events on the weekends at the Wells Fargo Arena. Court Avenue has plenty of bars and restaurants. There are numerous other restaurants within half a mile. There are plenty of parks and a nice Riverwalk. One the other side of the river are plenty of shops and restaurants. The Capitol building is over there as well and is one of the best looking I have been to. The only issue is that everything closes pretty early. I don't mind because I am normally asleep by 10-11."
