4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers help you learn but they don't help you when you need extra help with the assignment or class work. they never give out homework but if you don't turn in an assignment thats in paper or online you have to do it at home. the students are outrageous and there were at least 5 or 6 fights in one school year. the kids there are super nice though if you become friends with themStudent Review1y ago - Roosevelt High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI think the results speak for themselves. Roosevelt USED to be a good school, it is now consistently under-performing. Too much focus on woke and unimportant issues and not enough on providing children with a solid education and discipline. I have no idea how the current principal got the position, he seems useless, and is a poor communicator. Doubt he has ever taught and frankly it shows.Parent Review1y ago - Walnut Street School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI wanted to leave an updated review. My child went to preschool at WSS and now is in kindergarten. They are very receptive, works with families and my child loves the Metro program! I like the comfortable and flexible environment. They use the app well to communicate to families about things that are happening. I like the Urban setting of WSS, and my child loves the fact that his school is in "his city". They have diversity in families and children they serve. So far so good in our early school career. I am happy with the choice of enrolling my child there and he is thriving. Working with the school team to identify possible problems and working through solutions. This school is not under the same principal from earlier reviews. My child is very proud of the character awards they give at school.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 300 Walnut St #906.

"Very Friendly small town Feel but not cleanly and nothing for kids to do. I love downtown, but it needs a lot of work with kid Friendly activities and picking up the streets. I see workers but I don't typically see them actually pick up"

"Downtown Des Moines is small, easily navigated, and is pretty quiet. There are usually plenty of events on the weekends at the Wells Fargo Arena. Court Avenue has plenty of bars and restaurants. There are numerous other restaurants within half a mile. There are plenty of parks and a nice Riverwalk. One the other side of the river are plenty of shops and restaurants. The Capitol building is over there as well and is one of the best looking I have been to. The only issue is that everything closes pretty early. I don't mind because I am normally asleep by 10-11."
