8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLots of favoritism and politics in the school. If your child is one of the big Valdosta families, you are guaranteed a spot in any club or sports team. The staff is disconnected from the kids and shows little interest in teaching/ coaching young athletes.Parent Review11mo ago - Lowndes Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTerrible school!! This would have been my daughter's first year at this school(we moved here) and she would have been in the 8th grade....that is , if we wouldnt have withdrawn her after the first day! The chaos started at the so called "orientation"....or should we say students and parents running around in hallways. There was no formal orientation, like previous schools she had attended( where the orientation was scheduled in an auditorium and detailed info was given on drop off, pick up, what time school let in/out, dress code). Instead we found ourselves wondering around in a herd of people trying to find "our teachers". We finally located our "team leader" (Amanda Hiers) who was very rude, loud and aggressive. I was speaking with my daughter when she abruptly, patted her strongly on the shoulder and said, "look at me"..... now as I'm the parent talking to my daughter! One of the other teachers wasnt even there, one was new and said he didnt know alot, and the others I never could even find! Reluctantly, we still decided to give it a try. The first day of school, I dropped my daughter off and within 5 minutes, she calls me crying. She said, some hall monitor had yelled at her and sent her to the office for her clothes. What was she wearing you ask? Shorts that touched her fingertips, a tee shirt with sleeves and tennis shoes! Upon walking into the school to pick my daughter up, Im greeted by two ladies that are screaming for me to get in the crosswalk!.... Like Im a child! I walk in to the front office and say, "I'm here to pick up my daughter"? The old, rude lady says, " well, did you bring her clothes"? My response, no I just dropped her off and didnt even get to end of the street. I requested to speak with the principal but, was denied...saying he was busy! As i waited for my daughter to come from the back( holding prison cell, I guess) a counselor lady comes out and starts to try and justify why my daughter was humiliated for her clothes when we were not even informed of the dress code. I said,' how do you hold a child accountable for a dress code that has not even been given? Her response, " I understand what youre saying, we are going over the dress code today and tomorrow in class....maybe, we should have waited to send her home!!!!! Are you kidding me??? Still until this day, with my daughter being withdrawn, I still have not heard from the principal or received and apology! IF you have another option for a school, choose it!Parent Review6y ago - Clyattville Elementary School

"It is not a very good neighborhood for walking around in. If someone isn’t speeding down the street, then someone is blaring music scaring dogs because the ground is shaking beneath them and the music hurts their ears. Oh, and the occasional gun shot tends to scare pups too. "

"Very little traffic!! Roads are wide enough and well maintained. Cars, Uber, taxis are the main way to go. No public bus unless you go to VSU here. The only time there is a traffic jam is Friday nights during football games or if a train is blocking the road"

"I’ve only lived here about a year, but everyone is friendly and helpful. It’s a great place to live! I plan to retire here and hope more of my family follows the two of us down here. It’s close to both the gulf and the ocean so we can enjoy them whenever we want to go spend the day at the beach. We’re able to see palm trees everywhere we look and love the winter weather much better than snow and frigid temperatures in the north. The housing costs are so nice compared to those in area’s we’ve lived before. "

"This is a rental area for college students. Not really a great area for a family with kids. Better for a single person or young married couple or older couple without kids."

"We need to have a dog park. This could be done near one of our lakes in the subdivision. The neighborhood is quiet and serene. We all try respect each other property by not allowing our dogs to poop on the lawns. It would also be good to strategically place poop bags within the dog park, helping to make it easier to allow our pouch to spend more time frolicking with us."
