3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDo not trust this school. The principal and counselor are secretive and sneaky and do not take the time to answer simple questions and will not tell you if your child has to speak with the counselor and will not return phone calls nor emails. It doesn't matter if you are standing in front of them, they will scramble around trying to hide things. The counselor likes to play a hero over anything and will go as far as involving dfcs and then hiding in the principals office. They will call dfcs on your family over a child saying that the parents vape. The case workers with dfcs are so fed up with petty cases like these. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis website is quite outdated. Peach Co built a brand new school that opened in 2021-2022 school year. Its a beautiful campus with an amazing football stadium, batting cages, greenhouse, FFA barn, etc. We moved to this district for the current school year & my son is a senior. He's struggled with school since he started kindergarten. While I'm not impressed by my sons assigned counselor, there is another Ms. Norris, who is fabulous. She has helped us out tremendously. The Bad:The district has some odd policies such as you can't do a remedial course for a class you failed unless you failed the class at their school. Being a county near a military installation, I find that ridiculous. The dress code is also pretty stringent. I'm sorry - these are high school kids. No tank tops or short shorts, I get that. But no sweat pants???? SMH. Thats at the top of teen fashion for the past 5 years.Lunch is only 20 minutes and there isn't adequate seating. Lunch should be a chance to relax and socialize, but kids are scarfing down food (if they eat at all) to finish in that short window. Tough for a brown bagger much less kids that have to go through the lunch line. The Good:There are only 4 periods in a day. I disliked this at first as they classes are 85min long each. However, my son rarely has homework as he has time to finish it in class AND to have a teacher present to assist if he's having difficulties. They have a good selection of classes. For instance, my son is taking Forensic Science this semester which he is very excited about (first time for everything lol). School population is more diverse than his previous school one county over. The last school was very clique. He had trouble making friends there, but he had several friends within the first week at Peach Co.Everything is new and modern so kids/teachers don't have the difficulties of broken equipment, outdated technology, etc.Parent Review1y ago - Byron Middle School
