4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageA too-close community that leads to rumors being the dominate force in this school. Agriculture or Machinery? Oh right, we have ROTC and Sports. Band? Sure. Teachers with degrees in the field they're teaching? A few, I think.... Dress code is based off of the opinion of whatever specific administrator is feeling at that particular moment. The education itself is decent, but not worth the drama of the local community. If this school wasn't Okeechobee, then it would be better.Student Review10y ago - Yearling Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI do not know what kind of people are going on here rating this school well. The only thing this school has going for it is a nice principal. Other than that, where do I begin. The office staff are inattentive, incompetent, morons. At any given time, anyone could go in this school and get your child, considering there is hardly ever anyone doing there job in the front of the office, so just waltz right in. Secondly, My child in third grade last year was threatened to be shot, and nothing!! I mean nothing was done to this child, much less any precautionary measures to keep my child safe. The teachers refuse to take any sick day notes, doctor or otherwise from my kids to send to the office, to which I then get threatening letters about unexcused absences. OH, and lord help you if your child is special needs or has ADD or ADHD because they will threaten to right off the bat two weeks into school fail your child if you refuse to medicate them. This is the worst school I have ever seen. I have had two teachers that have intimidated my child due to having ADD and complaining was all I heard when my child falls behind because of his disability. "Dead end road, cows for neighbors, rural lifestyle. Huge fresh water lake with record breaking bass fishing! "

"The county has quite a few events in the five parks through thr Maine streets in town;art festivals, cookoffs. Food truck events, parades. The Agri-Civic Center hosts not only rodeos, but also the County Fair, a Halloween Festival to minimize house to house trick or treating, and anyone can sponsor a booth, with carnival type games, mini dog races. There is also a Community Health Fair each year in January, with local hospital, clinics and emergency services being involved. The Tri County Food Bank also does a distribution about three times a year. "

"After 20 years, I still love my neighborhood and our small town. Quiet, friendly. The only downside is when the snowbirds invade us from September to around April. Then our population goes from around 25,000 to over 40,000. Traffic. Ugh. But a small price to pay for the rest of the year. "
