3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school tries their best with the resources they are given. Which I appreciate, but I took a star off, I haven't finished my year at McMahon but I think it's a great school compared to the other options in the district. Very diverse, but I took a star off since the higher level classes have a lack of diversity, makes me feel a little uncomfortable. But besides that, I have had a good experience with the teachers, they seem to enjoy doing what they do, they are supportable and nice, not once have I disliked my teachers. The students are meh, but that doesn't really matter, I haven't experienced any bullying, and in circumstances that I did, my Guidance Counselor has been really supporting. Went to Roton, which was horrible, but the mental health resources are great compared to Roton, my Guidance Counselor is very supportive and actually listens to what I say. The quality of learning I am receiving is great, but depends if your in a general class or a higher level class. There are instances where our school's safety has been threatened, but the school takes any threat serious. We have numerous security guards and one police officer stationed at McMahon. I have a 504 plan, and my teachers are well aware of it, never had a problem with my accommodations, and when I do, I just give the teachers a simple reminder about my accomodations by email or verbally, and there's no problem. There are plenty of resources, we have our own school based health center, free breakfast and lunch, plenty of mental health resources, and VENDING MACHINES! We have plenty of higher learning classes, such as the UCONN Early College Experience, Advanced Placement classes, and the International Baccalaureate Programme. There are teachers who teach on par with private school quality of learning, but it saddens me with the lack of money/resources they have, again they have to work with what they are given to by the district. Norwalk Public Schools administration has gone down hill since the new superintendent, but McMahon still thrives, the true gems of this building are the teachers, and they need to be supported. There are plenty of kids in my classes that come from other school districts and towns to just attend Brien McMahon or the Center for Global Studies. Overall, this school will continue to thrive no matter what is thrown at it, I would totally recommend this school, and let my children attend it if I were a parent.Student Review11mo ago16 Reviews - Roton Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhere do I even begin, I can't tell if this was solely on the students who created this negative experience for me during my time at Roton. The building is old, I know they painted the walls and stuff to make it look better, but there were times when our rooms were deemed unsafe due to extreme heat in the summer/spring, this is not on Roton's administration part, but rather the schools district. Roton's student population has been increasing each year, which there is a lack of accommodation of classrooms for the population increase. They cut the art room in half to put the health room in there, my high school classes are 2 times bigger than the current Roton art room. Some of the teachers were inappropriate towards the students, which the Roton administration needs to take a closer look on their teachers' unprofessional behavior. The teachers are micromanagers, they reprimand you on small things that wouldn't be considered an issue in high school. Student safety sucks, they barely did anything when I was bullied as a student at Roton. The vaping problem was getting worse during my time at Roton, and probably still happening at Roton, which sucks for students at the age. There is a ton of fights, fights every week, compared to the high school near Roton. It's a hit or miss with the Guidance Counselors, they kept changing my counselor each year, I only liked one of them. They seem to not care, and when they do, they handle situations poorly always, un-empathic to what your saying, always blaming it on hormones and not concerned. My grade was so rude, they are better now in High School, but so much unnecessary drama. Honestly if I were a parent, I would unenroll from Norwalk Public Schools during my child's middle school years, and enroll them into a local private school or Roger's in Stamford, and then enter them in Brien McMahon for their high school years. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL IF YOU DON'T WANT YOU OR YOUR CHILD LEFT TRAUMATIZED.Other Review11mo ago10 Reviews - Rowayton School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter is finishing up her last year of school here and has attended since kindergarten. Rowayton Elementary has provided a wonderful and supportive place for her learn and grow. She's been challenged intellectually... The Gifted and Talented program has provided her lots of engaging projects over the last several years. The school uses a program called "W.I.N.", or "What I Need", which allows students at all levels to receive specialized attention to support them right where they are in each subject area. The teachers are engaged and enthusiastic and go above and beyond to encourage students at all levels. The administration team does a fabulous job of keeping parents informed about all of the many opportunities the school provides for parents to participate in their child's school days throughout the year, from the Walk-a-Thon in the Fall to the Patriotic Sing-a-Long each Memorial Day. A strong network of actively engaged parents provide support for the school through their volunteer work as Room Parents, with the PTA, running the Yearbook and Carnival, and filling in so many other areas that allow both children and staff to have lots of wonderful extra opportunities for learning and for fun! The staff takes safety seriously, but the day-to-day environment of the school feels warm and welcoming. I highly recommend this school, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts.Parent Review1y ago12 Reviews - Check out schools near 18 Crooked Trl.

"There are great educational opportunities in the area which includes a Magnet School. The neighbourhood is in walking distance to downtown entertainment, local parks, waterfronts, and the transit (bus and/or train) are easily accessible. There is a variety of religious institutions no matter your beliefs. The hospital and police station are close by. More importantly, what gives this town its charm is the people. A diverse community of individuals who found a way to blend their cultural differences to make a place feel like home. "
