This school has some positive qualities, however, during these past few years, they hired young and inexperienced teachers who have not shown a strong interest in teaching and nursing students with weaknesses in certain subjects such as math. By the end of the year my child had learned to read and write sentences. My child has grown both mentally and socially at Orange Avenue. The school was quick to address it when my daughter had a bully at the beginning of the year (and we've had no further issues). The counselors are deeply involved and great with kids. My daughter has several people she trusts and can talk to as we work through her anxieties, and I love the extra support. Plus, it's such a small school! Everyone knows my kids' names when they arrive in the morning. There's lots of ways to be involved in the classroom (but no pressure). We really appreciate the kids-first approach. I'm biased, but I'm pretty sure Calf Pen is the best of the 8 elementary schools in Milford. I wasn't going to write this, but the previous reviewer seemed to have a chip on their shoulder. "They have music in the summer, Milford oyster fest. Great 4th of July and New Years fireworks. Milford does a holiday tree lighting every year. The city has beautiful beaches, with sand castle sculpture contested, pumpkins on the pier, paddle board lessons, biking and walking trails and so much more. We recently got into pickle ball because MILFORD just put in 8 courts at Eisenhower park. You’ll never run out of things to do in this town. "
