Welcome to 105 Elm; a stunning and very private property, situated on more than 2 acres of park-like grounds yet minutes to the Guilford schools, and the quaint shops and restaurants on the historic Guilford green. This home has been meticulously updated and cared for by one owner since it was built in 1978. The first floor boasts central air on the first floor, gleaming hardwood floors, a very light-filled formal living room with many windows and a wood burning stove for those chilly winter evenings, a formal dining room with access to the wrap around deck, an eat in kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite, a half remodeled bathroom, laundry room, and a door leading to the deck and backyard. A perfect set up for entertaining. There is also the primary bedroom with en-suite bathroom on the first floor and an amazing family room with a majestic stone fireplace. Upstairs are two additional bedrooms, one with a skylight and en-suite bathroom and both have window air conditioners. There are newer windows throughout, new oil tank in 2019, new central air on the first floor 2016, and the septic system has been serviced each year. This house is truly in move-in condition and a very special offering.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Average5th grade 2021-2022 has been a complete nightmare. I have a special needs child with an IEP. There are 6 or so different teachers that my child has to interact with everyday. Each teacher honors/Administers his IEP at their discretion, which is confusing for my child and highly problematic. Additionally teachers make mean spirited comments to my child when he is struggling with an assignment. Today's example came from para that refused to assist my child w a math problem and then scolded my child when they saw that he hadn't completed the problem by saying ," i am disappointed in you. You had better speak to Mr.Mathteacher or you'll be doing it for homework." The para's tone was not kind or supportive. Its been like this the ENTIRE year. Ive reported each incident to the administration with no resolution. As a result of their mismanagement of my child's IEP and the staffs over all low emotional intelligence, my child has suffered both academically and social-emotionally. Shame has NO place in the class room. There is no other 5th grade in the town we live in.Parent Review1y ago - E. C. Adams Middle School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI honestly have never had much good to say about my child’s public school experiences in other districts. However, we have been impressed by Guilford High School. Our child has had amazing teachers — some that have provided not only a subject matter expertise, but also self confidence, and support that was very helpful. We had situations where we had to work with administrators and were also impressed by their thoughtfulness and caring. We were new in Guilford and it makes navigating things a bit more difficult than if we’d spent a lifetime here. I do think that kids can get lost when they don’t have an elementary school history in the district. However, after conversations with the administrators at GHS, our child was able to take advanced math classes, and other college-level courses (IB/AP). While I wish it had not taken us pulling out test scores or advocating for our child, it all worked out well. I think the guidance department is swamped and you need to read, be knowledgeable, and push for what your kid needs in order to fill out the eventual college applications. If you have the means, I’d suggest tapping into outside private paid counselors to double check a child’s trajectory early in their high school career (or attend their free online lectures). My child received some valuable advice outside of GHS counseling that ultimately made the difference in getting admitted to certain colleges. I wish they could have learned these things from the counseling office instead. I think the college admissions experience would have been challenging without the outside guidance. Overall, no regrets — our best public school experience ever.Parent Review10mo ago - Melissa Jones School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers and especially principal at this school are amazing, they are so caring and dedicated. The principal also keeps parents very informed and involved. I am so glad my children have the opportunity to go to MJS!Parent Review8y ago - Check out schools near 105 Elm St.

"Great safe place to live! I loved growing up here. Guilford high school was tough, a lot of bullying.. but it was still a great education. The guilford green is beautiful "

"Excellent schools, excellent teachers, but the culture here puts a lot of pressure on kids to achieve academically and do lots of extracurriculars, which can lead to anxiety & depression. The school district is actively focusing on improving the mental health of the students, though, so hopefully that problem will dissipate. Not many real neighborhoods here, so in most areas kids can’t just go outside and find friends to play with — you have to organize play dates. A lot of conformity amongst both adults and kids. "

"Friendly neighbors, quiet roads for walking or biking. Timberlands neighborhood is a beautiful safe and friendly area, convenient to everything, town, beaches, Rt. 80 is the best main way to Yale/New Haven with no traffic (beats I-95)! Timberlands has very nice river and lakes."
