4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBay View has a dynamic, dedicated and passionate principal! Ms. Golder leads a team of wonderful teachers who deeply care about kids and how to meet their needs as learners. I have two kids--one is headed for 5th and the other will begin there in Kinder in 22-23. While covid times were bumpy--just as they were everywhere else--from my perspective, the Bay View team has bounced back beautifully. After his covid year at home, at Bay View my son grew three grade levels in reading and caught up to be at grade level in math during his 4th grade year (21-22). In addition to strong academics, there are so many fun local field trips--mission, creek & ocean trips-- and community events--pancake breakfasts, carnival, bike and walk to school Wednesdays--to enjoy. These were highlights for my older child. Visual and performing arts are a part of Bay View--check out the gorgeous murals! We are so happy to be a Bay View Bobcats family :).Parent Review1y ago - Mission Hill Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSome teachers seem unmotivated and waiting to retire. Some teachers rely on group work due to large class sizes, which means the smart kids get bullied to provide answers while the other kids goof off. No accountability. Social dynamics foster exclusivity, racism, and bullying with no oversight or consequences from admin.Parent Review3mo ago - Santa Cruz High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children were new to the area when they started 9th grade and took to the school very quickly -- making friends, studying hard and growing up. The administration, teachers and other parents are friendly and helpful. The school is big enough to give children many opportunities - from sports to band to clubs and many electives. And because of the excel schedule, students can take 32 courses in four years instead of just 24 like most other high schools. I strongly recommend Santa Cruz High.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 130 Sycamore St.

"Lived here for 2 years. Just off the beach. Cars are broken into regularly. I never leave anything in my car to prevent break ins. Bikes are stolen all the time. And if our apartment wasn’t hidden behind a large house I would worry about being broken into. It’s a hippy city and surfer and bro mentality or old ppl who don’t want it to change EVER ....the beach aspect is nice. But we are moving soon and I won’t be sad to leave. "
