4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter has been attending BK for the past two years and I cannot day enough great things about it! It really all starts with the principal Mr. Gutierrez, he’s involved in everything regarding the school, I’ve never seen such an engaged principal and it rubs off onto the staff who are involved and excited to teach and help whenever needed. My daughter has gotten straight A’s almost every trimester with the occasional B however for the students who struggle in math or English their are intervention type classes and resources available to them and for the other subjects such as science, history, Spanish etc. the teachers are always eager to help the struggling students in anyway possible. Recently the school added state of the art science classrooms equipped with everything students could possibly need to do any variety of science experiments or lessons. There are also opportunities for students who are advanced to learn more and challenge themselves with a variety of programs including leadership and science programs. The eighth grade also has the opportunity to go to Washington DC lead by Mr. Gutierrez. I’m very happy with my decision to send my daughter to BK. When entering seventh grade she was suppose to attend another local middle school but I put in a request to transfer her and it’s been the best decision. They also have a wide range of sports programs that are very well organized.Parent Review6y ago - Check out schools near 39 Norman Way.

"many schools, very cute & quiet suburban neighborhoods, great parks all over, fresh produce at great prices like you'll never see anywhere else. Very temperate climate, lovely sun afternoons in summer never over 90 which is nice in my opinion & also never below 25 in winter so never too too cold which is also very nice. "

"It takes forever to get anywhere in Salinas. It’s an old town, much of which had been preserved for the sake of it being John Steinbeck’s hometown. This means narrow streets, minimal parking, and lots of congestion. There are only a few streets which connect “Old Town” to the newer developments... which calls for lots of traffic on those roads."

"It takes a long time to get anywhere. The most nearby shops are on super-congested Main St, and the major shopping stores are all the way across town. Planning your shopping trips for only one day in each week will minimize headaches and time stuck in traffic. "

"Schools are good all walking distance from each other and surrounding neighborhoods. 2 grocery stores close. As of lately an overwhelming presence of police when they could be on the other side of town where it needed. Borderline harassment when daughter walks our dog and police drive by and blind her by shining white lights at her. Unacceptable."
