7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is terrible. The new principal is not truthful. They are understaffed. The athletics programs are run by a bunch of unprofessional semi literate jokers. Don’t let your kids go to this school.Parent Review4mo ago - Mira Vista Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am an ex-student who left this school in favor of a newer dedicated middle school instead of Mira Vista we got a new principal after our old one got promoted and rightfully so, I would not recommend this school as it really fell off after our old principal left.Other Review10mo ago - Fred T. 5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis lovely campus belies the deep, systemic failures now infecting public education in our golden state. In an effort for equity, not equality, the campus staff have attempted to ensure students fail equally: overcrowded classes, no academic challenges, barely homework, removal of gifted programs, no theatre arts, theft a constant companion. And for dessert, most restrooms are shut down due to vandalism. Infuriating as a parent, a tax payer, and a citizen.Parent Review11mo ago - Check out schools near 615 Sonoma St.

"We don’t really have any. There’s the national night out and maybe a block party every so often, but mostly everyone does their own thing. "

"Excellent. I work at home. So I don’t have to drive right now. When I did, it was the most terrifying seven miles on Eastbound 80 into West Berkeley. Almost always. It was not healthy. "

"Pretty quiet and uneventful. I’ve lived in the area 5 years. Near open spaces for hiking, biking. And a close grocery store and freeway access"

"I have lived in East Richmond Heights for 6 years now and I love the diversity. The trade off is the high crime rate but it is well worth it. "

"Great value for money. The best of both worlds: safety and privacy of Berkeley mountains access to San Francisco Bay Area at very affordable prices."

"I grew up in this little hood and I love it here. As a kid I remember exploring Wildcat Canyon Regional Park like it was my own backyard. I still spend a lot of time there hiking, biking and dog walking. It's one of the few wild open spaces that allows dogs off-leash. "

"I've lived in the area, and am now looking for a house to get back into the area. The public school, Mira Vista, is excellent, very good parent participation. There's no crime to speak of, traffic is minimal, and neighbors are friendly. It's not a real walking neighborhood in the sense of going to the store or parks on foot. But it's clean and nice to walk around in for fun. There's an organic grocery at the bottom of the hill, and it's ten minutes to Kensington for shopping and breakfast. This is a really pretty ten minutes with one traffic light and easy-going light traffic. It's about 12 minutes to Solano to Andronico's, and tons of restaurants. Bus takes you to Solano in ten minutes, to Shattuck/University in Berkeley in about fifteen minutes. This area is kind of a hidden jewel, and I hope it stays as laid back and easy-going as it is now."
