10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would not recommend this school at all. My parents bought a house in the Mission district after hearing that the school was highly ranked and many students went to top colleges around the country. However, the school itself plays essentially no part in making this happen. I have been attending Mission for the past two years, and I can confidently say that it is one of the most toxic, competitive, and stressful environments I have ever encountered. While the students are bright, most teachers don't do their job at all. This is not to say that all of them are bad; I have had three brilliant teachers in my two years at the school, all of whom inspired me to pursue the subject they taught. However, the majority of teachers at this school couldn't care less about their students. Take my math teacher, for example. Every day since the first day of school, she has lectured for 5 minutes and left slides on the board for the students to reference while they do their work in class, with the occassional quiz or test in between. Despite having been at the school for 30 years, she hasn't taught her classes anything, and her students are forced to learn everything on their own. My chemistry teacher this year frequently displayed favoritism towards certain students. She randomly assigned topics, did not follow a curriculum, and found ways to dock points from our grades wherever she could. She does not answer student questions and frequently berates us because, according to her, the students at this school are lazy and unmotivated. However, Mission students are some of the hardest working students in the county, which is why many of them are accepted to T50s every year. And by many of my fellow classmates, I am considered lucky to have had these teachers this year. Simply because theirs were so much worse. The teachers are fiercely protected by the teacher's union. Even if they don't teach at all or grade unfairly, there is nothing we can do about it. The administration is incompetent as well. They do not care about the wellbeing of the students and don't take complaints or requests into account. In short, I would not recommend anyone who is considering moving to this area to attend Mission San Jose High. It will place immense pressure on the student and cause mental/physical health issues. The students will essentially have to learn everything on their own with little to no guidance from most teachers.Student Review11mo ago - Mission Valley Elementary School

"You need to watch your pet outside as there are raccoon, fox etc. The weather is moderate, rarely above 90 degrees and maybe some ice 25 years ago. Usually no rain for a number of months in the summer. The crime in Mission San Jose is in the lowest range in the east bay, but you still need to lock your doors and not leave any valuables in your car as they break car windows and kick in dead-bolted doors. Limited shopping and restaurants in Mission San Jose but much more within 15 minutes. Limited entertainment and nightlife in Fremont, but more in San Jose - 30 minutes away. There are hundreds of companies one can work for in Fremont, not very many in Mission San Jose. Fremont has a lot of activities for children via Fremont Parks and Recreation. The YMCA is 5 minutes from MSJ."

"They are new Summerhill homes located in a cozy area of Mission San Jose. The park is within the community where children can play. Very professional families live here. Safety is excellent. Accessibility to GREAT mission schools."
