6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you are planning to enroll your child in this school, I would highly recommend going somewhere else. Although there were some very memorable teachers that have so much passion for teaching, the fact that this is a small town school comes with heavy favoritism from the faculty and staff with family relations to the students. There were multiple times where certain teachers and administrative staff would turn their heads away from the students they personally knew and were causing trouble but punish the ones who would stick up for themselves, even if it were verbally. During my time as a student, it felt as if the "Zero Tolerance Policy" only applied to those who weren't related to any well-known staff members.I could share multiple personal experiences about my time there but I want to keep this review civil and generalized as I now feel comfortable enough with myself to express my concerns with this school's administration.Other Review8mo ago - Johnson Elementary School

"I have lived here for years and everyone speaks and waves! They even stop and chat if one is outside ! We have new nice restaurants and a quaint downtown square with speciality shops ! Many churches to choose from and outdoors parks and activities!"

"It’s quite here, it safe. The one only problem I have living in my area is one episode I had to call the Sheriff department, and they took way too long. Other than that this is a great area to live."

"The traffic is more congested in the mornings and after school /work, but is nothing compared to Madison and Huntsville. I work in Huntsville so it takes about 40 minutes in good driving conditions. As far as staying in Athens goes, I find that it's easy to get around and everything is pretty convenient. "

"99% of commute is by car. Need more attention to sidewalks, bike lanes and green ways. Not many options to walk, bike or ride to restaurants and grocery. "

"The only way to get around in my town is by car. I do see a few brave souls who walk or ride bikes but it is dangerous because there are no sidewalks and the street lanes are narrow. Athens city counsel needs to address this because Athens is growing. 2 great colleges and Steelcase and Toyota makes it a popular town for families of all ages. Sidewalks and wider lanes would lift moods and reduce bellies."

"there's no public transportation where I live now, so to get around you have 3-4 options; have a vehicle of your own, walk, ride a bike, and lastly (the one I hate to do) ask friends or neighbors for rides whenever you have to go somewhere"
