SAN FRANCISCO, September 29, 2011 –, a leading site for home buyers, sellers, renters, and real estate professionals, today announced the launch of two new mobile apps for the Android platform – a native real estate apps for Android tablets, and an app just for renters. Trulia is building rapidly on Android’s mobile platform to deliver real estate information to users everywhere they want it, and ahead of the curve.

Trulia is the first of the major real estate industry players* to bring a top-notch real estate app to market for the rapidly growing Android tablet platform. Trulia’s application maximizes the tablet experience by utilizing the full screen to display beautiful property photos and a large, interactive map, making searching for properties easy.

o   Map-Based Full-Screen Location Search: Find properties quickly and easily via a large map experience

o   Full-Screen Slideshows: Unique to Android, view property slideshows on the tablet’s entire screen

o   Neighborhood Info: See where restaurants, schools and other points of interest are in relations to homes for sale or rent

o   Agent Contact: When you need more information, you can easily contact a real estate agent using the app.

Trulia developed the rentals app in response to strong usage growth and consumer demand for rental information, both on and in the company’s mobile offerings.  With this new app, Trulia is providing a dedicated experience that caters to the specific, time-sensitive needs of renters. Renters generally operate on a much shorter timeline than house hunters, so they need to move even more quickly and have real-time access to properties that may only have a brief window of time-on-market. Trulia’s Android rentals app offers features to help people organize their searches, sign up for alerts so they’re first to find out about a new rental on the market, and quickly identify properties that make sense for them to spend time contacting, visiting, and eventually calling home.

o   All Rentals, All The Time: A clean, rentals-centric user interface gives you just the information you need to find your best place to live.

o   Save or Nix Properties Instantly: Save the properties you like and nix those you’re not interested in and don’t want to see anymore. Color-coded “markers” show you what properties you’ve yet to view vs. previously viewed properties.

o   Notes and Photos: Add your own photos and notes to properties as you tour them. Photos and notes will remain private, but can be emailed/shared with others.

o   Search Alerts: Never miss out on another rental that could be perfect for you. Sign up for search alerts right from your phone so new rentals that fit your criteria are instantly emailed to you.

Growth in Mobile

Trulia has made a major push in mobile in the last year, developing best-in-class mobile apps and building a world-class in-house mobile development team. In the past 12 months, Trulia has launched both Android and iPad apps, and the additions of the native Android tablet and rentals apps create an even more robust mobile roster. Trulia’s Mobile usage is outgrowing the mobile industry by about 200%, and Android rentals and tablet apps will continue to fuel that growth.

‘Trulia is committed to maximizing user options for Android, the fastest-growing mobile platform out there. Android tablets like Amazon Kindle Fire and the Sony S and are new to market, but they’ll undoubtedly start to matter to a greater number of consumers, and Trulia looks forward to participating in the success of this new platform,” said Steven Yarger, Trulia’s Mobile Product Manager. “Our in-house Android experts have found the platform to be flexible and powerful, with a lot of room for creativity, which makes for quality, optimized experiences for our users in the Android ecosystem.”

“As house-hunting becomes more of an “on-the-go” activity, giving users an optimal and best-in-class experience on mobile is a major priority at Trulia,” said Pete Flint, co-founder and CEO. “Mobile is core to our business and key to our mission of giving users the inside scoop on real estate. We’ll continue to invest in our mobile team and programs in order to rapidly innovate.”
