According to the Trulia Rent Monitor, Boston rents rose 10.3% year-over-year, making rent increases in Boston the fifth highest of major metros in the U.S. Some of this spike can be attributed to the huge number of college and graduate students in the Boston area. As students aim to secure new apartments for the upcoming school year, the rental market culminates on September 1st, the biggest move-in date for renters in Boston.
