"There are several elementary schools (one is bilingual) in the neighborhood. It’s very bike-friendly and has lots of great little parks and playgrounds. "

"it's an awesome diverse neighborhood all cultures but just like any Urban City you must take precaution when walking alone at night or parking your car but all in all I've lived here for many many years and never really had an issue at all"

"Many dogs and most houses have yard space, some fenced, some not. Roverwest is better during the day than in the evening. "

"Many people hang extra doggie bags on their front gates/porches for folks to use. But you NEED to leash your dog. It is the law."

"I’ve lived here for 5 years and love it. It is a village like feel within a big city and I’ve raised my small children here happily. Being a part of the big city, you do have to stay guarded and aware of your surroundings during late hours or in narrow streets. "

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children attended Gaenslen for Summer Academy, but unfortunately, we withdrew them after just a few days due to several concerning experiences. From the beginning, communication was poor—we never received a confirmation of acceptance and ended up showing up a day or so late. When we did arrive, the reception was cold. On multiple mornings, my family was met with unwelcoming stares and what felt like resentment from staff. It was disheartening, especially when your children walk in happy and excited, only to be met with energy that feels quite the opposite. The turning point for us came when my 8-year-old daughter shared that a staff member yelled in her face over something as simple as taking a second milk—something that was allowed. She tried to explain, but was cut off and repeatedly told to sit down in a harsh and intimidating tone. She described the staff member bending down to yell at her with hands on their knees, face-to-face. My daughter cried the entire walk home, saying she had never been spoken to like that by an adult. After that incident, I chose not to return. The indifference we experienced from the office staff and guards made it clear that raising a concern would likely lead to more frustration. I chose to protect my peace and my children’s emotional well-being.I don’t recommend this program based on our experience. Children were expected to display a level of behavior and emotional control that was not mirrored by some of the adults charged with caring for them.Other Review11mo ago9 Reviews - Pierce Elementary School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI Don't care what anybody has to say. I went to this school and successfully graduated, this experience was awesome for me. Okay yeah they might have their strict rules and all but it's worse than that at any other school. I love this school so much. If u have an opportunity to send your child to this school, take advantage of that. I'm telling you, you won't regret it,and it would really help your child in the long run. Messmer has so much to offer.Other Review9y ago4 Reviews - Calvary's Christian Academy

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is awesome! My children have been there since they began and every year it only gets better and better. The teachers really take the time and show concern for their students. I have seen "problem labeled" children's behavior become 100% better than when they first began to work with them. The teachers and staff are compassionate about changing lives and building leaders.Parent Review13y ago1 Reviews - St. Philip's Lutheran School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUnfortunately, St. Phillips changed for the worse over the years. My child was harassed for months and I asked on numerous occasions to have a sit-down with the parents since the teacher seemed to not be at resolve the situation. I was denied this and chastised when I exchanged contact info with that parent. My son got his two front teeth knocked out- they claimed was an accident. My daughter had run-ins weekly with little boys that's sure to become *woman-beaters* the future because they are not disciplined for hitting period- let alone hitting a female. The classroom size has almost doubled which has also proved to not be good for a positive learning environment. I am not sending my children back there! Good luck and prayers to all.Parent Review11mo ago7 Reviews
