There are good teachers and good people at VES. You will certainly find a school where your child is known and cared for. The resources (athletic and artistic) are strong for a school of its size. Administrative changes in the past few years have, sadly, weakened the school; there seem to be a lot more people making decisions, but more problems with communication and effectiveness of how the school runs. The main design of the academic program seems to be to impress through marketing and to get good college acceptances- a lot of what exists among students is very surface-level thinking. It's a nice school in many ways, but no better than the public options in most urban or suburban areas in Virginia or North Carolina.
