We would see Mazo every day. She would be welcoming kids every morning. Communication between school and parents was open and understood. When the new principal took over, Communication ceased or became less understood. In a year, we still havent seen the principal out and about and have no idea who she is.Latest communication thru DOJO was that students 5th to 8th grade were to bring their lunch in gallon zip lock, (no explanation why). When I took my 3 grandkids 2nd and 3rd grade, I was told they had to use zip locks not lunch boxes. It is not the 1st or 3rd time that communication has been messed up. I enjoy the school, it's small, kids love it. We ate switching because of the distance but the lack of or miscommunication is playing a big part in our decisionParent Review1y ago15 Reviews - Capt D Salinas II Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter was in Prek 3 at PSJA and I brought her to Milam due to us living in McAllen and because Pre K here starts at 4. The difference between the PSJA elementary school (Dr William Long Elementary) was like night and day. Day 1 and week 1 we had issues with communication the teacher didn't set us up with the Dojo app. Week 1 and on, her name kept getting misspelled. She's been at the school a year and the assistant teacher barely fixed the name that she says had been on the roster. SO A WHOLE YEAR after being in contact with the principal about it, it was not adjusted. They barely have family oriented activities. The mom one was pushed back MONTHS and when Mother's Day did come around, they didn't do anything. No grandparents day either. The only things that happened were through PTO and your child can't attend if you don't pay. Like, how is that mentally okay??? If I don't donate a monthly fee to PTO, my child stays behind on an activity? PSJA had an activity and dress up weeks ALL the time. To the point where I even thought it was over board. But now at Milam, where they barely do anything, I see how it was better at PSJA. My cousins have kids in Weslaco that had ceremonies for attendance and grades or graduation. Milam didn't do that. I'm finding it difficult to stay but it's not fair to me or my daughter since we live so close. I had high hopes for Milam, even when I lowered expectations, it still disappointed.Parent Review1mo ago27 Reviews - Seguin Elementary School
