9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHays is a wonderful school with a top notch staff. There is not another school I would want to send my kids to. It is funny that a couple of the posts above mine contradicted. One said there was way too much homework and one that said there was not enough. I have 3 kids at Hays. Each one had homework but not too much. We have had few problems, but as soon as I brought attention to them, they were promptly taken care of. To the poster that said her child was bullied, the staff has sent out multiple things over the years stating that they will not tolerate it. Kids will be kids but if you didn't bring it to the teacher's attention...don't blame it on them. No school is perfect but Hays is as close as you get!!!Parent Review12y ago9 Reviews - Nesmith Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe student community at this school is friendly, and children often form strong friendships. However, our family experienced serious concerns regarding instructional consistency, communication, and fidelity of support services.Communication with some teachers was inconsistent, and emails often went unanswered unless administration was included. Even more concerning, strategies and interventions discussed in meetings were not consistently implemented with fidelity. The special education department showed significant organizational and procedural issues. Key staff who provide critical services were sometimes not included in meetings, and updates to goals or plans were made without supporting data unless we specifically requested.. Attempts to ensure proper procedures were followed were sometimes met with resistance, highlighting that without active parent advocacy, supports could be dismissed or improperly handled.Staffing instability, including reliance on long-term substitute teachers in some grade levels, created further inconsistency in instruction and classroom expectations. Several other families have expressed similar concerns, suggesting these issues may reflect broader systemic challenges rather than isolated experiences.Parents evaluating this school should ask detailed questions about instructional consistency, how interventions are implemented, and whether supports are delivered with fidelity, as these factors directly impact student progress.Parent Review1mo ago6 Reviews
