Worth Heights

This school has great teachers, and students. Very welcoming and helpful. The speech teacher is awesome. G/T program too.

Im writing this from the high-school's perspective. This place sucks. The administration doesn't care about the students, especially their wellbeing as a whole. They are planning on cutting ALL of the fine arts programs, including dance, which has won many awards and charters. We do not have a girls basketball team, football, baseball, softball, wrestling, weight lifting/power lifting, and a lot of other sports. They are taking the mentor program which helps with a lot of students with mental health struggles. I hate it here. The teachers are good, that's the only redeeming quality. The board is running this high-school like an elementary school. They banned all ways of self expression: piercings, hair, etc. They're getting onto the African American students whom have their hair in dreadlocks, or braids. They get onto facial hair, which most young men cannot control. As an example, one of my friend's body hair grows very fast. He would have to shave every day or every two days. That's not good for his skin, nor his mental health. It's not a distraction for anyone. On the same topic, the boys can't have their hair long. Again this is an issue. Another one of my friends is Native American, and it is apart of his culture. AGAIN, this is an issue. I have a small nose stud. It is not a distraction, and is just there. They (the admin) make a bigger deal about it than it really is. Now to the money. They don't care about the students: why they have an absence. My sister has chronic pain and illness and misses school more than your normal teenager. Her normal pain scale is around a normal person's 5-6/10. She has all A's and B's. When I had Mono and was in the hospital I gave them 3 doctor's notes. They still counted all my absences as unexcused. As of now, I have 8 unexcused absences. I had Mono and tonsilitis. It was hell. EVEN with 8 unexcused absences, I have all A's and 2 B's. They don't want us here to 'learn' (which they want us to do bell-bell (90 mins)), they want money, and only money. They are overly strict on mundane things that do not matter among many many other things I do not have enough room to write. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE!!!!!!!!!!
