I’m an 8th grader that graduated about 2 and a half weeks ago. Our Lady of Sorrows is probably the best choice my parents ever made for me. When I first went into kindergarten, I was shy, nervous, and upset that I had to join a whole new environment. However, I would soon realize how wonderful this school was. The principal, Sister Cecile is a wonderful principal. She is compassionate, always puts the priorities of her students and their families first, and makes sure every student that goes here gets a wonderful Catholic education. The teachers and staff are all wonderful. They are nurturing, helpful and work so hard to help their students grow. There is something wonderful about every staff member. The school also does a lot to make sure every family is welcome, as they host fun events, extracurriculars, and other events and activities to find a community. A child at O.L.S can do many things, such as play sports like the band, chess club, and starting in 5th grade, basketball, baseball, and the school plays, which are some of the best productions ever, as every person puts their all into making it wonderful, starting in 6th grade, student council, and starting in 8th grade, the yearbook club. There are so many wonderful opportunities for a child to choose from. This school also loves their students. When my best friend died of cancer, they immediately made sure to preserve her memory through having a celebratory mass and party for her birthday, a customized pin for her, and a greenhouse dedicated to her name. This shows that O.L.S loves their community. It almost feels more like a family than a school. This is because we are all a tight-knit group and work together to make magical memories. A few fun 8th grade memories I would love to share are going to see the M.J musical on broadway, playing a game of volleyball against the staff, going to spy scape for a middle school field trip, helping out and playing in field day for many years, and eating out at a Mexican restaurant to help improve our Spanish. Now that my years at this school are over, I can’t believe the time went by so fast, and I have tons of nostalgia and love for this school. It will always stay deep in my heart, and I will never forget it. Our Lady of Sorrows is the perfect choice for your kid(s), and you will definitely know you made the right choice for your kid.
