"It is an affluent area for the most part. Homes are taken care of and it is safe. Homes are expensive and no one really uses buses or the train nearby. "

"We have community events that involve food, fair and family entertainment. It happens a couple of times a year especially before summer ends and during the winter holidays. It’s a chance for the community to come together and enjoy some fun. It also gives stores and companies on new dorp lane a chance to get to be known better."

"Bar crawl, new dorp lane, old school community, great sense of a community as one. Many block parties inter area. We have high rock park near by which is apart of the green belt. Great fishing and hiking within walking distance. Beach is only a 10 minute walk which includes a boardwalk with many events"

"For Staten Island it's a pretty unique place as you can walk to a lot of places -- great restaurants, banks, cafes, bars, even a dine-in theater (coming soon). You are also just one 10-min stop away from the ferry if you take express train in the morning."

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is welcoming to a majority of students, but does not do their due diligence for students with disabilities. There is either investors, or majority of parents, or something that keeps this school particularly from keeping them coming to terms with the idea that special education is not something to be ashamed of and or making parents of special needs children feel the need to work extra hard to explain their child's circumstances. Teacher's, staff, and a majority of schools since 2013 have been updated on general knowledge of autism and that there are various forms and how broad it is. To have to make parents get advocates for their children due to lack of knowledge at a school is concerning. If we have to ban peanuts, why is it so unusual to have safe spaces for children who become I overstimulated. Many schools recognize this concept, PS 41 does not. Even planning events (for the entire school) special education is not taken into consideration. I hope this does change, and they do better in the future.Parent Review6mo ago13 Reviews - New Dorp Christian Academy

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNew Dorp Christian Academy has been an absolute blessing for our family. They welcomed my child during a season of transition and went above and beyond to make that transition as smooth, supportive, and positive as possible for him. From day one, we felt embraced. The Academy truly feels like a family—every staff member knows the students and their parents on a first-name basis, and that level of personal care is rare and meaningful. The teachers and administrators are deeply invested not just in academic success, but in the whole child. The faith-based education is exceptional. Christian values are woven into daily learning in a way that is nurturing, authentic, and inspiring. We are so grateful to be part of a community that partners with families, leads with faith, and genuinely cares. I cannot recommend New Dorp Christian Academy highly enough.Parent Review3mo ago25 Reviews - Our Lady Queen Of Peace School
