NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBefore enrolling, the existing reviews were a warning sign, and in hindsight they were far more accurate than expected. The school may work if your child starts in PK and moves up within the system, but for families transferring in later, especially from outside the area, the experience can be extremely difficult. From the very beginning, enrollment and onboarding were disorganized and confusing. There was little to no meaningful guidance, and the staff seemed to assume that families already knew all of the routines, expectations, and unwritten rules, even when nothing had been clearly explained. When questions were asked, the responses often felt dismissive, as if you were the problem for not already understanding how everything worked.Socially, the environment was just as discouraging. Because so many students had been together since PK, tight-knit cliques were already firmly established, and new students were treated as outsiders rather than welcomed in. Instead of helping classmates include someone new, there seemed to be little adult awareness or intervention when kids were snobby, unkind, or picked on a child who was still trying to adjust.Communication was another major issue. Important information was either sent late, inconsistently, or not at all, which made it nearly impossible to keep a new student on track. Rather than supporting the transition, the overall tone from the faculty came across as impatient and uninterested in helping a child who needed a bit more guidance. The classroom experience itself was also deeply disappointing. The homeroom teacher often appeared checked out and exhausted, more like someone trying to get through the day than someone engaged in teaching or supporting students. That lack of visible engagement set the tone for the entire year and made the classroom feel like an unhappy and unwelcoming environment. If you are a new family moving into the area or considering a mid-year or mid-grade transfer, think very carefully before choosing this school. The combination of poor onboarding, weak communication, an unfriendly social climate for new students, and what felt like a burned-out teaching environment led to a negative experience that ultimately ended with withdrawing our child.Parent Review5mo ago16 Reviews - Leonard E Burket Christian School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter began at the nursery school level at 3 years old and remained through kindergarten. She asked to switch to public school and we did for 1st grade where she was happy to meet many kids from the neighborhood, but academically she declined and so did her confidence. My daughter asked to return to LEBCS for 2nd grade which was music to our ears! Her reading is astounding, her penmanship (yes, script too!) is beautiful, and the technology is almost completely absent from education at her level. The difference in her learning when using the technology and iPads/computers for their core subjects in the public school setting truly hindered her attention and grasp for what she was learning. LEBCS is dedicated to teaching students so they *learn* it and understand what they learned. The comprehension is wonderful. The school is based upon Christian faith, and they hold true to raising these children with strong values and morals, just as you would in your own home. My daughter is excited to go into 3rd grade here, and happy she met kids in public school but has said herself, “I just learn better here.” As a parent, can I ask for more? My son has now started in their pre-school program part-time and can’t wait to go with his big sister everyday, all day in September. Their little brother will be only a year behind. There is a great level of comfort knowing your children are in the hands of those who don’t just see them as another kid in the class, but gets to know them and becomes an extension of family. Their music program is well organized and cared for as you can see in each years programs. the individual students all shine because they weren’t just blanket taught the subject, but they were each given the time to come out of their artistic shell and thrive in the way that is best for them. And that is how the entire school operates, it’s a gift to have them. I personally attended as a preschool child before graduating in 6th grade and switching to public school. Now they have students all the way through 12th grade and it’s a blessing for those who choose to utilize them. Miss Burket is one of a kind and you will always be in good hands with her present!Parent Review1mo ago12 Reviews
