"It’s a working class neighborhood, so we don’t have tons of events, but people take pride in the area and take care of the community around them. I’m privileged to call it home. "

"There are a lot of dog owners and they seem to enjoy all the grass in the area I see them walking there dogs or training them there’s a large yard with concrete floor that’s fenced so they can run around also again a lot of grass where I see dogs running around either playing fetch or chasing squirrels "

"there are dog fences everywhere, the dog owners here are absolutely trash. they do not pick up after their dogs. if you buy a house here, just know they will let their dogs poop in front of your house and not pick it up. very common "

"very relaxing and safe. I see lots of people enjoying walking by the ocean... running, walking with dogs. I see also new development coming big way to the community. For the next 20 years that's the place I would love to live. "

"Good outdoor spaces, near the beach, a long pier along the river to walk on, which extends past the Verrazano Bridge, New shopping area and amusement parks. Less that diverse or interesting food scene, bland, bland, bland. Although the bakeries are pretty good. "

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a teacher, I would not recommend this school for others. While the school and principal seem warm and inviting on the surface level, the truth is far from it. You only get to really see it once you’re in it and I wish someone would have warned me. As a teacher, I witnessed the principal use observations against teachers as a scare tactic, spread rumors about staff, and micromanage with unrealistic expectations. Every year, teachers leave in large groups. You’ll be told it’s because teachers got a job closer to home. But anyone can tell you that working for a leader who respects you and is fair to you, makes any kind of commute WORTH IT. Unfortunately, this doesn’t exist at this school. Another hidden truth, is they make the teachers take the school survey in a room together while admin circles around the room, and most rate favorably out of fear of retaliation. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children attended this school and graduated recently. This is the best school in the neighborhood. The teachers are all experienced (some even attended PS 215 when they were kids) and there is a strong focus on teaching the whole child. My kids had lessons on social-emotional learning and had opportunities for leadership roles. The academics are strong and many of the 5th graders get accepted to District 21 magnet middle schools. The new principal has been there for a few years and she is very involved. I always saw her in the schoolyard at dismissal saying hello to families and taking the time to speak with parents. I was very happy with the experience my kids had at PS 215.Parent Review3w ago26 Reviews - Ps 216 Arturo Toscanini

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has very rude staff ! This school has rude recess staff that yell because we are whispering to our best friends while they are talking and they also have safety rules that the school made up and are not safety rules and they are just some random rules that give us the worst and boring recess and the staff really need to understand what kids experience at school everyday! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!Parent Review11mo ago16 Reviews - Block Institute School
