My Granddaddy attended this school a great many years ago starting around roughly 1941 or so as well as his wife, my Grandmother following him thru about 1950 or so for Kindergarten thru 8th grade. Some years later my Aunt & My Mother also attended this school roughly around 1972 and 1977 respectively for Kindergarten thru 6th grade. I also attended this school as a young child from Kindergarten thru 4th Grade myself. Although that has been several years ago now, ( roughly 21 years ago when I started Kindergarten.), it was a very good school then and has become somewhat of a staple as a Family Elementary school for children in my family. So when it became time for my oldest child to embark on his journey through his first year of school, there wasn't a second moments thought to where he would go for Elementary School. As of right now I'm glad I stuck with my decision to send him to Elementary school where his Daddy, Grandmother, Great GrandDaddy, & Great Grandmother went to school at. My family has obviously grew with this school a great number of years and as of right now we are on our 4th Generation of family attending Janie C. Hargrave. With only 210 students for the 2014-2015 School year, there is a very reasonable student to teacher ratio. The ratio in my son's class is 7:1 students to teachers. The EOG test scores do leave something to be desired in the higher grades of the school but I believe firm parenting and a good parent -teacher working relationship can work through that. Very proud to say I started my journey through my school years here and I am exceptionally proud to be able to send my children to the same school so much of their family has attended over the years. Here's to hoping for a better future for all our children and too hoping that they get opportunities and offers to do things we never thought or dreamed of throughout their school lives.
