Wonderful, caring staff. Both of my children have IEPs and their educational needs have been addressed and I can tell the teachers and staff truly care. Smaller school but this is a positive in my opinion. Lots of events hosted by PTA and school throughout the year. Very pleased!Parent Review1y agoBrunswick Elementary SchoolPK-5Public733 StudentsFrederick County Public Schools7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI do not understand this school, but I certainly now understand why the reading and math proficiency is less than 50% in Maryland. Here are the lowlights:* The classes are overcrowded (25+ per class)* They teach to the lowest common denominator. Meaning, if your kid gets a concept then they have to wait while the others catch up. During the waiting no real learning is going on. They do not divide up classes based on ability.* Discipline is baffling...but not surprising. If any kid has to get disciplines nothing is really done to eliminate the problem and the bad kid just gets either moved to a new class to continue to be disruptive or is given "restorative" discipline. Restorative means that they explain to the kid why you shouldn't hit someone and call them the N word...and then send them back to class. And give them chance after chance...meanwhile the well behaved kids end up suffering and the behavior continues.* Supervision during recess is almost non-existent and where the majority of the problems happen.Parent Review1y agoThe GreatSchools Rating compares schools on a variety of school quality indicators including test scores, college readiness, equity and more.
