Ignores bullying and neglects student issues, hard to work with.

When I went to this school they only focused on my learning and didn’t care about anything. As a boy my time here was hard because of the favoritism. 80% of the teachers favor the girls over the guys and guys get way worse punishments. For example I was sitting on one of the benches this school has set out, then girls came over and pushed me off twice. Then I went in the play structure to get away from them, but they follow me and push me off three more times. Then a recess monitor only told them to stop and say sorry. So another teacher in the school had to step in for us and solve the problem actually giving the girls a punishment.

I had 2 kids go there from when they were both 1 to when they started first grade. A boy and a girl, and they loved it,. The staff was always very kind, caring and attentive. It felt like an extended family. My son still talks about his experience there, and how much he misses it. It was a great place for them to go.

My oldest daughter began at the Birches in 3rd grade (we were wait list second half of her 2nd grade). She is now in 6th grade and we have a second that started in kindergarten and is now in second grade. Both of my children love this school and love school, which I find quite refreshing given the typical aversion to school from children. My oldest was let down in her early education from her old school and was behind in reading and spelling for most of her schooling. The Birches had specialty staff that worked with her over the past few years and as of the last trimester last year, she was exceeding grade level in all of her academic measures. In 6th grade she has received straight A's and developed into a confident and happy student. Being a small school, there are compromises and the school and approach will not be for everyone; however, we have found it to be a great fit for our children even going as far as commuting 40 minutes (we moved further away 2 years ago) in order to keep them in the school they love and we cherish. The Birches is always working to improve, and I think that is evidenced in the newer reviews vs older ones.
