I graduated from Hayden quite a few years ago, but most things have not changed since then. There were plenty of teachers who obviously should not have been teaching because it was obvious that they did not enjoy teaching and did not like many of their students. Also, Hayden is a jock school, so much so that it’s to the detriment of academic excellence. If you’re not an athlete, you are NOTHING socially. Which brings me to another point: Hayden is a very cliquish place, and numerous students are going to have a very difficult time finding their niche or where they fit in.In general, Hayden is like a lot of other private/non-public schools: it is all about money and constantly raising more money. There is no doubt that Hayden gives preference to students who come from wealthy and prominent families, whereas students from more humble backgrounds are treated as second-class citizens.Academics are so-so. There is not a great variety of courses or electives to choose from. And there are no nuns on the staff and there haven’t been for years. There’s a chaplain, but you can barely call it a “Catholic school” now.There are MANY better options than Hayden, including public schools and homeschooling.
