Klondike

Wonderful school that goes from parent/infant classes for 1 year olds to 6th grade. Most teachers here have a bachelors degree or higher and have been with the school for a decade or more. The other daycares or preschools I found in the area had young staff with high turn over. It is a nonprofit school run by a board of parents, lots of parent and community involvement. With such a high Purdue staff population, it makes the school much more diverse than other options. Many teachers are bilingual, I think 3 or 4 different languages among them. THEY GO OUTSIDE EVERY DAY! Jumping in puddles, sledding down snowy hills, you name it! If it is above 10 degrees and no lightening, they are outside. I think this is so important for children! Children are encouraged to explore their own interests. Opposed to everyone needing to be doing the same task. I found that system to work so well for my strong willed ADHD children. Instead of being scolded for their resolve and energy, they are encouraged and supported. The behavior problems seen at public school disappeared in this Montessori environment. Instead they are thriving with growing self esteem and maturity.
