7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son went here for 4th, our experience was great. 5th was a different story as we open enrolled and got different treatment. We didn't feel welcome and unfortunately ended up switching schools due to my sons discomfort in his home room class. His teacher was harsh and didn't follow through with any agreements to help my son grow. Very disappointed and hurt at our experience this year as it was vastly different than is 4th grade year there.Parent Review1y ago5 Reviews - Nixon Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNixon School, Earlier had no clue about the school, Nixon was real nice experience for my 4.5yrs old daughter at Pre-School. We only concentrated towards my kid should read and excel in education, the Nixon teachers had a different view of bringing kids at this age, they have made my kid to be more passionate about making new friends, freely talk to new kids, very nice improvement on her stage fear, Miss Kenzie been our family member to all kids, Teacher used to analyze the ability of the kid and upgrade in their studies and appreciated about my kid ability about doing things which are part of KG1 and KG2 grade activities, Miss Kenzie always gave room to listen what we expect and always gave special interest on our requests to add/delimit kid in studies what required to their age. First day and First week my kid never spoke to the teacher and the way teacher took was sportive and convinced she will observe and keep required activities for her and Miss Kenzie made it, in less than a month my kid came out of stage fear and able to talk with school friends, take initiatives. We miss the school, teachers as we move out of Iowa, Apology for convey only over Phone, Sharanya BalajiParent Review11y ago2 Reviews - Viola Gibson Elementary School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is like the cup in Matthew 23:25 that has been washed on the outside but is completely rotten on the inside. I would say a lot more, but the Yelp review for this school explains it pretty well, so I will try to give a brief summary. The administration is incompetent and deceptive, the curricula are obsolete, and the students are rude and cliquey and just as duplicitous as the administrators. Grade inflation is rampant, and students regularly receive high marks for mediocre work - I once saw a classmate who submitted an essay about Margaret Thatcher inventing abortion in the early 1900s later go on to graduate with the highest honors despite openly cheating on final exams. Continuing on that thread, the school has a major cheating problem that the administration refuses to acknowledge despite being warned about it multiple times. To their credit, the teachers are very competent and work as well as they can with the fundamentalist gay-bashing young-earth creationist curricula they are forced to use. Reading between the lines, it’s clear that many of them have been compelled to dumb down their classes to accommodate the lazier students that the administration favors. Do not be fooled by buzzwords like 'Christlike character' and 'academic excellence' - if you pay attention for long, you will start to see through this school very quickly. I would strongly recommend online Christian schools like Scholé Academy or HSLDA for a better educational experience.Other Review2y ago22 Reviews - Essential Montessori School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageEssential Montessori is absolutely the best preschool around. The teachers are leagues ahead of the rest. After having my children attend 4 schools in the area I can confidently say that Essential Montessori is the best school in the Cedar Rapids area. The teachers are so loving and care deeply about the children each individually. They are truly experts in their field. If I could send my children there for elementary I would. Its also very affordable for the excellent care, experience and learning your child is given. I cannot say enough good things about Essential.Parent Review7y ago8 Reviews
