NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved from out of state and I’ve never experienced anything as bad as Jones Wheat Elementary. My sweet little first grader’s teacher would yell at the kids daily. When my daughter brought this to my attention I thought she was exaggerating. But midway through the year my daughter started showing signs of being scared and anxious of school in a way I’d never seen. At a conference the teacher admitted to raising her voice regularly. She explained to me that the school was understaffed with too many kids who don’t get their needs met at home. The teacher also brought up race. I was shocked. Shocked that an adult would actually admit to a parent that she yells at 6 year old regularly and that she brought race into the discussion. When I brought my concerns to the principal multiple times nothing was done. I became desperate and reached out to other parents. Other parents who had the same experiences. I couldn’t believe it. One mom even considered trying to get the news involved. Within a 1.5 year daughter went from being a bright, confident, creative little girl to a scared girl with no confidence in a year. The damage was so bad my daughter was scared to go to school the following year even though we had moved her to an entirely new school far away. Trying to undo the damage that School caused my daughter was the most emotionally taxing thing I have done as a mom. Now this review could be seen as “just a bad teacher” thing. However, we moved during her kindergarten year and he first teacher was also lacking in many shocking ways. Discipline is withholding recess from anxious, roundly kids which obviously makes the kids have even more difficult times because they can’t get their energy out. Office staff seemed to be annoyed most days. And… it is just not a place I could recommend to send a child.Parent Review1y ago4 Reviews - John Johnson Elementary School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageJohn Johnson is a good school but can be better if they had a better bullying policy. Sad to say not only are the children teasing and picking on each other but the teachers as well is ignoring these events and chose to do nothing about it but continue to let it happen. My child is a student attending John Johnson elementary school in the 1st grade and almost everyday if not everyday if my child is coming home sad and hurt because the students pick on him and mistreat him; while the teachers sit back and do nothing or get tired of him complaining about it and isolate him to a corner to sit alone away from all the other children. It hurts my heart seeing my child everyday in pain because no one at John Johnson Elementary School wants to take my concerns seriously. I am afraid for my child to attend this school everyday because tomorrow may never be guaranteed. :(Parent Review13y ago3 Reviews - Potter Street Elementary School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageExtremely poor communication by head administrators, teachers, SLP, and staff. Staff and administration (principal) dismissed concerns noted by parent, despite a formal meeting; instead of working with parent to develop quality education for child with IEP and then later proceeded to fabricate dates when questioned to cover up. Unprofessional, dishonest, and unhelpful staff that includes SLP who decided she did not have to honor nor respect parent and team agreement on goals for child's progress and frequently displayed unprofessional and questionable mannerisms while offering minimum assistance to facilitate child's development. Overall, school does not promote excellence nor equality for all students, nor is parent awareness and involvement encouraged.Parent Review10y ago4 Reviews - Grace Christian Academy

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt’s a great place for learning about Christ while getting a great education. About 20 in each graduating class and usually 25% to 50% apply to UGA for early admission. GCA has had 100% that applied admitted the last 5 years.Parent Review8y ago3 Reviews
