This school is awesome! My son's teacher Mr.Barrio and his para Mrs. Crespo are wonderful! They show sincerity and patience with my son and we couldn't be happier. The principal is very nice and sincere as well. We transferred here from Ward Highlands where he had a terrible teacher and had a bad day everyday. He has done nothing but thrive at Maplewood. His grades are up and he comes home smiling everyday ready to go back. Mr. Barrio and Mrs. Crespo are a blessing! So glad we found them!

Dangerous situation with rear fence gate left open for an hour in morning and without any safety officer to man the area in back! We feel the school administration is great at lip service but unwilling to go the extra mile for students. Because of the bizarre and onerous racist demands of the current governor, teachers are unable to provide accurate historical information to students. Student library has been scraped of many useful books, owing to the extremist approaches and malign influence of religious zealots. Our child began to hate school after the first week, complaining that the classes were "boring". Our child was never challenged unless we parents requested additional homework, although ultimately this was provided and graded properly.

These ratings are meant solely for the daycare. The people are nice. It is affordable, but it is unclean. There is little to no educational value. I do not believe this is a safe environment for children.

We are a family where our priority is the safety of our students then academically driven. I have been in this school for over 25 years.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Montessori Preparatory School. Since my son started attending, our experience has been nothing short of transformative. The most striking thing about the school is the genuine kindness of the staff. It’s a warm, welcoming environment where you can tell the educators truly care about the emotional and social well-being of every child. The curriculum is impressively well-rounded, offering a deep dive into diverse cultures. It’s wonderful to see my son coming home with an appreciation for the world around him and a growing understanding of global traditions.

My daughter has been at OCA since VPK. When she finished VPK, she could read. Now she's in second grade. Her GPA is 4.00 and she's always excelled on national tests. On the negative side, I think they're sometimes disorganized and don't have a good, engaging program for gifted children.
