10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child is in first grade. His teacher is constantly threatening his class to take away recess if they misbehave. This leads to his recess being taken away at least 2/5 days of the school week. We spend about 2 hours each day in homework- that is a lot to deal with for a 6 year old. The teacher and administration do not have any creative ways to encourage the kids to learn and stand by their teachers’ decisions, even when they may not be the best ones logically. They mainly care about their numbers and test scores. Many of his classmates had to get private tutors because they cannot keep up with the curriculum, and I often see my child frustrated because of the overwhelming work. If you value your kid’s mental health you may consider another place.
