"I’m in an oasis, tucked behind the not so desirable part of the Ave. The weather is great here as the fog hardly ever makes it to this area, and burns off early if it does make it. It’s peaceful and quiet."

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Average4 Stars, however since Sheridan adopted the name (Academy of International Language Study) they post this phraseology on every bit of paper and communication they can. The amount of irrelevant communications they bombard parents in texts and emails is very annoying. This new “Duel Immersion” emphasis on is holding our kids back. Children that elect to learn Spanish, Mandarin or any other foreign language should be able to decided that later in their scholastic career. Forcing kids to learn foreign languages before they have developed their own native tounge is counter productive and causing inevitable delays in reading writing, phonological, lexical, and grammatical systems. You would be shocked how much time is dominated and dedicated to learning foreign language. These very young minds could be absorbing so many more productive subjects instead. We continue to see a downward trajectory of scholastic scores and testing (especially in Eng. Literacy) over the last few decades here in VCSD. Also, as the same with any review sites It’s of course up to us as parents to filter though the reviews that sound like a biased administrator wrote them.Parent Review1y ago - Ventura Charter School Of Arts And Global Education

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school sadly has a practice of pushing out students who do not fit into the mainstream. Students are routinely advised to enter the school’s homeschool program, especially if they are neurodivergent or need extra help. What the other reviewer said about the director not following the nonviolent communication practices that the school teaches is true. Sadly this person is retaliatory and at the end of the day seems concerned about herself, not the well-being of children at the school. We have attended this school for over five years. If your child is very mainstream and typical, you may be OK. Some of the teachers are really extraordinary and you could be lucky to get them. But having had the experiences we’ve had, I can’t recommend this school.Parent Review1y ago - Ventura Christian Academy
