Normal Heights is a Mid-City San Diego neighborhood about six miles northeast of downtown.
It’s bordered by I-15 to the east, I-805 to the west, and I-8 to the north.
Locals can commute by bike or bus. The 7 bus cuts through Balboa Park, connecting Normal Heights to downtown.

The neighborhood started out as San Diego’s first “streetcar suburb” when a trolley route was built along Adams Avenue in the early 1900s.
Normal Heights is densely packed with ’70s-era stucco apartments, Craftsman bungalows, and Mediterranean-style homes.
