I attended Marin Horizon in the early 2000s, from 3rd through 8th grade. Those years were extremely formative for me, but unfortunately were not a good time - in fact I remember them today as being the worst years of my life. The academics at MHS may have been good, but are rendered irrelevant by the brutal, ceaseless bullying I experienced, the scars of which haunt me to this day. I have memories of horrible things my classmates did to me while teachers stood by and did nothing. It pains me to think that my parents spent so much money for me to be treated so poorly, and even today I wonder how I made it through those years of misery and came out the other side. Today I’m 32 and have a wonderful and fulfilling life that I am extremely proud of - everything I have is not because of, but rather in spite of, my time at MHS.

Both of my sons attended middle school at Marin Primary & Middle School, with the younger one just graduating this past spring. I could go on and on about the many lovely things we have enjoyed about our time here, but let me just highlight a few:1) A lot of schools claim to care for the whole child, but this one actually has the personnel and expertise to do so. They have a K-8 school counselor who is a certified therapist (caring for your child's emotions!), a fully licensed registered nurse as the school nurse (caring for your child's physical well-being!), and a Mensa member running their gifted programming (enriching their intellectual life!).2) Speaking of expertise, their middle school PE teacher is a record-setting ultramarathoner - talk about inspiring! The teachers at MP&MS don't just talk the talk - they walk the walk and set an incredible example for the kids in what it means to dive deeply into your passions. 3) Speaking of passions, your children will find theirs here! The school offers a huge array of specialists, sports, and elective classes: makery spaces (projects lab/design thinking/tinkering), all the visual and performing arts, environmental sustainability clubs and classes, cross country, basketball, soccer clinics, track & field, and outdoor education.4) Speaking of outdoor education, the school lit my son's spark for exploration. He became a mountain biker and a rock climber during his years at MP&MS. He had the incredible opportunity to travel with his class to Coloma, Yosemite, Pinnacles, Santa Barbara, Point Reyes, and camp on Mt. Tam.My kids left MP&MS well-prepared academically, but more importantly, they left knowing themselves and their strengths as people and as learners. They left feeling confident and capable of taking on challenges independently. They were well-loved here in this community, and it got them SO ready for whatever comes next, in the wide world beyond.

We could not be more thrilled with our decision to move our daughter mid-year to Marin Montessori. Her love of learning has returned, and she lights up when talking about her school projects and classroom activities. The school's commitment to hands-on education and self directed learning is a perfect fit for our daughter, and she has matured greatly both socially and academically under the care and guidance of MM's incredible staff. Our daughter has ADHD and the small class size, individual relationships with teachers, and experiential activities have fostered her natural creativity and curiosity after public school had effectively shut it down. We could not be more grateful for this wonderful school.

This is our first year at Chronos. My daughter is 4.5years old (TK) and in the TK/K/1 classroom. It’s been such a great experience and she’s learned so much. Chronos is a hidden gem of a school, it’s an experience not only for the students, but also the parents. There are so many opportunities for family involvement from field trip Fridays and weekly presentations. I also love all the photos and videos that are uploaded! Chronos is a good mix of fun combined with strong academics. The school also offers early care and aftercare. They’re open at 8 and close at 5, except Fridays pick up is at 4. I am by profession a public school educator and I strongly endorse Chronos!
