"I live here. 5 minutes from downtown Mobile, highway I-10, Austal Ship Building, and new Airbus facility. Walking distance to: Washington Square; Mardi Gras parade route; Callhan's Irish Pub; Oakleigh Mansion; Magnoilia Cemetary; Mobile Public Library. You can actually walk to church, school, shops, parades, concerts, art galleries, restaurants, & pubs. There are many neighborhood events though out the year: block parties; meet your neighbor; Black Tie and Blue Jean's in the Square; Mother's Day band concert; Oakleigh Porch tour; easter egg hunt; halloween parade, & attending parades to watch together. Popular activities include: walking, jogging, cycling, picnicking on the grounds of the Oakleigh Mansion to Washington Square; hanging out on the front porch drinking ice tea, & talking with neighbors. "The Oakleigh Garden District has Southern charm and delightful neighbors. Live oaks dot the landscape and the smell of barbeque wafts through the air most nights. This neighborhood introduces you to southern living at its absoulte best while representing some very cosmopolitan people. "
