I am very disappointed with how a recent incident involving my son was handled. My nephew was intentionally hurt by another student, and while I do not encourage violence, I also expect fairness and understanding when situations escalate. When I came to address the issue, the focus seemed to be placed more on my nephew’s reaction rather than the actions that led up to it. It was concerning to hear him described as “aggressive” without fully acknowledging that he was responding to being physically hurt. As a parent, I expect school leadership to take a balanced and unbiased approach when dealing with conflicts between students. Every child deserves to feel safe and supported, and every situation deserves to be looked at in its entirety—not just one side of it.I hope the school takes time to reflect on how situations like this are handled moving forward, ensuring that all students are treated fairly and that concerns from parents are heard with empathy and understanding.
