"My area has access easy access to downtown, the freeway and local hospital. It does have challenges with transient populations from time to time."
    • Shelly Maas
"Yes…many dog walkers. Regularly see lots of the same people with their numerous puppies walking daily."

    • Trulia User
"We looked at this home and love the craftsman style homes. There’s plenty of space for our family and storage. Hopefully we get to know soon!"
    • Trulia User

"Dogs are often walked outside, most streets have sidewalks; although not all streets are well lit. Dogs seem welcome in the area and there are many parks nearby. "
    • Valerie A.
"Not too bad, about 10-15 minutes to Tacoma mall via the freeway. A lot of lights if you take side Streets. "
    • Lerichardson
"Families, parks, restaurants all nearby. Pretty walkable you most things you’d need. Some streets are nicer than others. Quick access to freeways. "
    • Vennyswhite79
"Great neighborhood people are friendly and the community is strong together. Some neighbors are a bit nosey, but I’m assuming they just want what’s best for the neighborhood or don’t have any business of their own."
    • Vennyswhite79
"There are sometimes birthday events or holiday celebrations that the neighbors partake in, most of the community has a good time."
    • Sokhaa E.
"We are 10 minutes from Ruston and a minute from 6th Ave, the entertaining fun way. Nothing is too far and food is delicious just about everywhere!"
    • Lorenzo P.
"The 6th Avenue scene is pretty active...well, was pretty active until C19. There used to be a farmers market that closed down 6th Ave but I haven't seen it in a few years."
    • Audrey D.
"Great neighborhood. Safe quiet and neighbors look out for each other. 6th Avenue district is awesome during the summertime so much to do and see wonderful restaurants in walking distance art galleries nightlife comedy clubs dog friendly great schools close by"

    • Luke_dutch
"Not the safest neighborhood. Sometimes you’re fortunate enough to live on a decent block with decent neighbors. But a lot of the unwanted traffic through the neighborhood is still there. Keep your valuables secure and out of sight."
    • Michellejmears
"I’ve lived here almost three years and love it... close to 6th Ave activities, close to freeway access, lots of cool things to do and see. We have great neighbors too!"

    • Dodie S.
"Street fairs, Schools are close, bus route on 12th and 6th ave And The holidays are recognized on every block..and we look out for each other "

    • Donna G.
"It is a decent neighborhood it is getting better as time goes. I don't mind living in the area as long as rent doesn't continue to rise."
    • Hecate Grae.
"my boyfriend's car was stolen from in front of our apartment last summer. Lots of gun shots at night. I bring my knife with me when I walk my dogs after dark."
    • Ashraf Meer
"We have been here for two years now and have seen it continually changing for the better. Houses are being repaired and improved, there are more kids out playing in the neighborhood, neighbors are meeting each other and building relationships. Central is probably the best neighborhood in Tacoma if you want to be able to walk to downtown, get on any of the highways, walk to Sixth Avenue, own a beautiful pre-war home and be surrounded by a young and diverse community."
    • Kerry W.
"A lot of dogs in the neighborhood and dogs walked frequently. Friendly and well behaved dogs and dog owners . "
    • Beachs_303
"The well maintained sidewalks are great with bright lights in the evening. You can easily walk to fun locations. "
    • Frazier j. e.
"Commute to downtown is less than 15 minutes. To Seattle it can be 45-80 min depending on traffic. It’s 30 min to light rail at Southcenter. "
    • Holly W.
"It’s gentrifying as we speak. People keep to themselves but always smile and say hi. It’s a working class neighborhood."
    • Codycrue253
"Great area I'm the day time. Small local shops restaurants and bars. Night time is quite a different story. With all the bars and people it can get loud and dangerous. Senseless vandalism and homeless drug addicts roam and break into cars."
    • Christine
"I love this area! I've lived here 5 years and its quiet and gorgeous and fun! I will love here for as long as I can."
    • Kirk B.
"This is an affordable neighborhood that attracts young families. Walking distance to good food, a seasonal farmer's market, groceries. The area was not as good ten to fifteen years ago but has changed as young families have moved back, fun shops and restaurants have opened. The area has renewed itself."
