2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have nothing but amazing things to say about this school. My daughters have both attended Franklin Elementary and have the most supportive staff. My oldest daughter has an IEP which the school always maintains, and she has never had any issues with access to services or staff members when she has needed them. She also recently was placed in the highly capable SAIL program, and I know her teachers have had an influence in her getting to that point. The principal knows the kids and parents by name, everyone is helpful and considerate. I adore Franklin. GO PANTHERS!Parent Review8y ago3 Reviews - Mason Middle School

"My area has access easy access to downtown, the freeway and local hospital. It does have challenges with transient populations from time to time."

"Dogs are often walked outside, most streets have sidewalks; although not all streets are well lit. Dogs seem welcome in the area and there are many parks nearby. "

"Great neighborhood people are friendly and the community is strong together. Some neighbors are a bit nosey, but I’m assuming they just want what’s best for the neighborhood or don’t have any business of their own."

"The 6th Avenue scene is pretty active...well, was pretty active until C19. There used to be a farmers market that closed down 6th Ave but I haven't seen it in a few years."

"Not the safest neighborhood. Sometimes you’re fortunate enough to live on a decent block with decent neighbors. But a lot of the unwanted traffic through the neighborhood is still there. Keep your valuables secure and out of sight."

"I lived around here for 18 years and it's not all great to leave your car unlocked or leave your bike on the porch so I guess if you want to live in the area you just need to know the right precautions to take "

"We have been here for two years now and have seen it continually changing for the better. Houses are being repaired and improved, there are more kids out playing in the neighborhood, neighbors are meeting each other and building relationships. Central is probably the best neighborhood in Tacoma if you want to be able to walk to downtown, get on any of the highways, walk to Sixth Avenue, own a beautiful pre-war home and be surrounded by a young and diverse community."

"Great area I'm the day time. Small local shops restaurants and bars. Night time is quite a different story. With all the bars and people it can get loud and dangerous. Senseless vandalism and homeless drug addicts roam and break into cars."

"This is an affordable neighborhood that attracts young families. Walking distance to good food, a seasonal farmer's market, groceries. The area was not as good ten to fifteen years ago but has changed as young families have moved back, fun shops and restaurants have opened. The area has renewed itself."
