If parents continue transferring their children out of this school in such great masses and the school continues to lose funding it will eventually close.Parent Review8y ago6 Reviews - Is 285 Meyer Levin

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a current 8th grader at this school. This school shows favoritism towards all the graders besides 8th grade. 8th graders are being exiled from activities while 6th and 7th graders are getting activities we never had like a junior prom on a yacht while they are threatening to make our prom in the gym because we a small 8th grade. This school may have many programs like photography, dance, and chorus but does it really excuse the obvious favoritism. This favoritism has been going on since last year where they already didn’t like us since 6th grade but when the new 6th graders came they started to always do things for them and talk about them and compare us to them saying how we’re not like them while they were just as bad as us some could argue worse. Last month we had our senior week where we dressed up for days like pajama day they gave 7th and 6th graders those days as well because they mentioned it wasn’t fair when if we were to say that while we were in those grades we would just be disregarded and be told we deserve it. I am in student government and not to long ago a 7th grader mentioned how she wants to make more trips for 7th graders and then a 8th grader asked what about 6th and 8th grade and she said that yes to 6th grade but she said 8th graders already had a senior trip. This doesn’t make any sense because that is 1 trip and she was talking about multiple trips and also many 8th graders are upset about our senior trip because it is to six flags a place we already go to during the year for frightfest and we find it unfair that we don’t get to chose the place we want to go to for our senior trip. These are just some of my many complaints of this school that I have over these 3 years I’ve been in it for. Overall this school isn’t necessarily the worst but currently they are showing extreme favoritism and until proven otherwise I say that us 8th graders deserveStudent Review1mo ago7 Reviews - It Takes A Village Academy

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school was horrible as a transfer student. Sadly enough, it was better than the school I went to beforehand. This school sucks at communication, has NO programs for technical students and does not even give AP classes to kids who earn 90’s, but instead gives them to kids who do not want them. They do not respond to emails nor phone calls, as I am attempting to get my transcript after they had ALL SUMMER to send my transcript to my college. Yet, they still aren’t and I’m being told I may not be able to register for spring 2024 semester due to this.Other Review2y ago6 Reviews - Check out schools near Remsen Ave.

"It has a park where many people come from everywhere to entertain themselves. Some residents enjoy doing exercises during the sommer time and play games. All these hobbies made them happier and contribute to their health conditions."

"If you can commute between 3AM to 7AM it isn’t bad. Any other time it’s a disaster. The belt turns into a disaster which turns rockaway into a disaster then effects all the other streets. If you don’t drive good, bus and train take longer and more more risky but still better than driving."

"My neighborhood has great access to public transportation and the commute is rough with a lot of people crowded on the buses and trains. The commuters are polite and say excuse me and pardon me. But, it still is hectic. That is Brooklyn, NY for you, busy and crowded."

"It is a two-way zone area which makes it easy for me to catch the bus or the train. There is a supermarket that provides many fruits/vegetables and other products. You can get good deals on hardware products and other household products. There are clothing stores as well that sell fine clothes and shoes. We have a health food store and a store that sells natural juices."

"It’s the last block of the street itself and there’s a huge park at the end of the block. Past that is a major Highway and past that, is a bay with just a strip of land before there’s the Atlantic Ocean. Does not feel crowded here and I wouldn’t mind having a boat to explore the local waters"
