3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is great. This is coming from someone who has seen and been on many of the things the school can offer, such as theatrical productions, the football team, the track team, etc. I would say that the academics are good. Most of my classes are very advanced and I learn everything I need to know. The only thing I can't speak for is the lower level classes. I am also in the vocational program. Although it uses lots of older equipment, one can expect the already good vocational programs to excel when the new school is built. Taconic is a vocational school, and there will be new shops (And most likely new equipment in them) when the new school is built, along with many other benefits. Many of the negative comments are from 2007, with the newest being from 2013; they are outdated, from times when there were different students and staff members. The students who pay attention in class almost always succeed, even if it requires lots of help from the teacher. The kids here who get bad grades normally just don't care about doing well.Basically, if you want to do well here, you probably will. If your goal is just to survive high school, you probably will. However, if you try, you can and hopefully will excel here, and you probably will have fun doing it. You should take advantage of the many extracurricular activities, and enjoy every moment of them. All of the extra things I was skeptical about turned out to be really fun and thoroughly satisfying. This school deserves a much higher rating than it has. Right now as I write this, the school has a 3 out of 10 rating, but I think it should have at least a 6 or 6.5 out of ten, and at most an 8 or 8.5. Maybe I am just lucky, maybe I have a better time than the average person here, but with everything considered, I can gladly say that it really is a good school. As a prent, I love how nature and the environment are incorporated into all curriculum areas. Great school that has really turned itself around!Parent Review15y ago2 Reviews - Check out schools near Pecks Rd.

"My commute is 7 minutes long. Traffic is usually light. Traffic commissioner Morales has made commutes bad with his traffic pattern redesigns and “no left on red” at most intersections. "

"Don’t go to Kirvin unless you want an unleashed dog to attack your dog. It is not a dog park, but dog owners treat it as one."

There is plenty of shopping near by, I can walk to see a show at Barrington stage, or a movie at the Beacon cinema. The Colonial Theater is a ten minute walk from my apartment. There is a grocery store within two minutes driving. "
