6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLove that it is small and I feel like we have a little more freedom because we are a small school. I moved to this school the 2nd semester of 7th grade and I'm so much happier! Great teachers, coaches, and guidance counselor!!!Student Review4y ago1 Reviews - Jemison High School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIts dark and dismal. It has the appearance of being filthy. There is a total lack of respect for student opinion. Unless of course you are related to a teacher in some way. The average student without connections is treated as if they don't matter. If accused of any infraction they are guilty with out any truth seeking efforts. They are bullied and told not to complain so much. Don't defend yourself either or you will be punished. So of course these kids stay in trouble and are then labeled as such.Other Review9y ago4 Reviews - Maplesville High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter & I loved the 3 years she spent at Clanton Middle. Mr. Finlayson, the principle, always greeted students & parents alike with a smile and a few friendly words. The teachers were great, and the kids seem to be happy. I miss her being there, since she's now in her first year of high school. It would be great if Clanton Middle could be considered for America's Favorite School!Parent Review16y ago2 Reviews - Verbena High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageVerbena Annex and HS have been great for our family. My daughter was sad school ended last month, she likes going so much. My only issue with the administration is lack of communication with parents regarding homework assignments or tests. It would make a big difference to receive a group email each week with a summary.Parent Review11mo ago3 Reviews - Jemison Middle School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is in 3rd grade and only 2 of his past teachers were actually great. The teachers i didnt like have issues with children being kids and should find a new career. His kindergarten teacher was aweful to him and was mean and yelled at the kids and snatched his snack away from him and threw it across the room because he left it in his backpack. I do not like this school for the most part because of the teachers. I would recommend moving somewhere else instead of putting your child in this school. I am already seaching for somewhere else to live to take my kids out of this school. Its rated far better than it should be. I also went to this school and hated it back then and quit when i was of age because of fights and drama that went on there. Thankfully i was able to get my GED despite the lacking of learning from bad teachers. Only a few are exceptional and great at their jobs.Parent Review10y ago1 Reviews - Check out schools near Off Brierfield Ln.

"Great area and schools for kids not much in the way of neighborhood restaurants mostly chains fast growing area with many new neighborhoods and some issues with traffic during work commute "

"You see people waking their dogs all the time. It's also a very private neighbor hood. Not to far from the veterans park either. "

"HOA sucks in this neighborhood. Neighbors seem to be friendly but do seem distant. It’s about 40 miles to Bham"

"It’s quiet here except for the trains. The city has a 20-30 million dollar sports complex as well as several smaller parks. The school system is nice and most neighborhoods seem well cared for. "

"We have a 20 million dollar sports complex that is almost finished. Movie nights in the park are held a few times in the fall. The Strawberry Festival is once a year and the schools are outstanding. Our city just won a grant to improve the older section of downtown and when the new bridge is finished the commercial area will certainly bring in more retailers. "

"The Interstate is very close, but the traffic on the interstate into Birmingham is terrible. Especially early in the morning and getting home in the evening. "

"It’s awful because of the traffic on 31 and i65. The lights aren’t synced properly, and the construction make traffic awful."

"We also have a community pool, but the HOA is terrible and makes people pay $12 for a card to get access to the pool. It was shut down the last couple of weeks of the summer. Yet they still hung giant signs claiming this is a pool community. The HOA doesn’t make everyone mow. The house next to us went Without being mowed for over 2 months, and they only mowed half the back yard. It’s ridiculous. There are huge pot holes all throughout the neighborhood and people speed through our neighborhood. The stop signs are faded and need to be replaced. I don’t recommend living here. "
