6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhile SLW K-8 has positive aspects, my experience regarding communication and classroom interactions with several teachers has been concerning. Responses to parent inquiries have often been delayed or unclear, making it difficult to stay informed about student progress and expectations. Additionally, some interactions appeared to lack patience and effective communication, which impacted the overall learning experience. Consistent, respectful communication and a supportive teaching approach are essential for student success, and I hope the school addresses these areas to better support both students and families.Parent Review4mo ago19 Reviews - St. Lucie West Centennial High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhile , the school claims to be nurturing and safe for students with disabilities, it is actually hostile and even worse if the student is gifted. They work around the system to make the experience so uncomfortable for the student that eventually they want to leave. Administration and medical teams do not observe medical professional’s guidance, nor provide encouragement for their success. The only quality gained from time spent there was to learn how uncomfortable school can be..Parent Review8mo ago8 Reviews - Oak Hammock K-8 School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe rating I gave back in 2015 was based on my personal experience as a student at this school, which was not the greatest. When I chose to send my daughter here, I had high hopes that things might have improved, but unfortunately, I couldn’t have been more wrong. To be fair, there are some wonderful teachers and staff who genuinely care about enriching children’s lives. I still keep in contact with a few of the teachers who truly impacted me as a student, and I’ll always be grateful for them. However, my recent experience as a parent—especially with an ESE student—has taught me how broken the system can be. The administration did not show the level of care and humanity that every child deserves. Sadly, this isn’t unique to this school; many public schools struggle in the same way unless you are one of the lucky ones.To other parents, my strongest recommendation is this: advocate fiercely for your child. If something doesn’t seem right, speak up. Hire education advocates if you can, reach out to your community for support, and educate yourself. Study your procedural safeguards, research the laws that protect ESE students, and learn the correct terminology and procedures—because the school will not guide you through them.We have since switched to another school, and the difference has been night and day. The empathy, care, and understanding we’ve experienced elsewhere made it clear how much we were missing at West Gate. You could not pay me to send another one of my children back here.To any parent who may be struggling: I wish you the best of luck, and please know you’re not alone.Parent Review7mo ago32 Reviews - Allapattah Flats K-8

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAllapattah School has been a wonderful experience for my daughter and for our family. From the first day, she has felt welcomed, supported, and motivated to learn. The teachers are caring, patient, and truly dedicated to each child’s success. They take the time to understand every student’s needs and make learning fun, engaging, and meaningful. I have seen so much growth in my daughter—academically, emotionally, and socially—and that is because of the amazing teachers and staff who go above and beyond every day. I am truly grateful for Allapattah School and highly recommend it to any family looking for a loving and supportive learning environment.Parent Review3mo ago17 Reviews - Check out schools near NW St E.

"All the establishments for children has closed down couldn’t make it. Movie theater, bowling alley, skating rink all closed down from the pandemic and never reopened. Schools are good. The city does have festivals, rodeo’s, holiday parades. Okeechobee is a fishing town. Bass Tournaments for kids also. "

"The county has quite a few events in the five parks through thr Maine streets in town;art festivals, cookoffs. Food truck events, parades. The Agri-Civic Center hosts not only rodeos, but also the County Fair, a Halloween Festival to minimize house to house trick or treating, and anyone can sponsor a booth, with carnival type games, mini dog races. There is also a Community Health Fair each year in January, with local hospital, clinics and emergency services being involved. The Tri County Food Bank also does a distribution about three times a year. "

"After 20 years, I still love my neighborhood and our small town. Quiet, friendly. The only downside is when the snowbirds invade us from September to around April. Then our population goes from around 25,000 to over 40,000. Traffic. Ugh. But a small price to pay for the rest of the year. "
