Send your kid there only if they're AP/IB students. Otherwise... you're not gonna get far. They only care about the AP/IB students. Also be weary if your kid is on IEP, they didn't follow my IEP. I fell through the cracks with this school. Took lifeskills class aka clean the cafeteria up after lunch aka take the trash out wipe, tables, mop/wax floor and failed it. How do you fail taking trash out? I was told I couldn't take ASL because I have a speech impediment, make that make sense. Eh, maybe it's changed. been quite a while but still... I wouldn't recommend this school if it was the last school on Earth.

My child has been bullied a lot at the school and I've been told by the principal that "we need to be careful how we classify bullying" and then did nothing about it. When my child tries to bring something up, she's ignored or dismissed. The teachers start the bullying by making fun of kids and belittling pr shaming them and the other kids pick up on that. IMO. The guidance counselor is a gem who will help your child and give them emotional support and make them feel seen and heard. The school does have a lot of fun events and projects for the kids to work on so the learning and the community involvement is good.

If I could give this school zero stars, I would. The bullying, lack of discipline, and disregard for student safety are alarming. During passing periods, there are 800+ students with only four adults monitoring the hallways, which is completely inadequate.Multiple students have reported that when fights break out, teachers often walk away instead of intervening. Disrespect toward teachers and students who are trying to learn is widespread, and classrooms are consistently loud and disruptive. The environment feels chaotic and out of control.Overall, the administration appears to lack accountability and urgency in addressing these issues. If you are looking for a school with frequent fights, unchecked bullying, and little discipline, Thomas Jefferson may be a fit—but families seeking a safe, structured learning environment should look elsewhere.
