7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a parent of a 5th grader since the school year 8/2022 my child had been bullied by 2 students who are 5th graders as well . The only actions that were taking was me having a conference with a social worker that’s it .. nothing was resolved in 24hrs . I enrolled my child in Lake Ridge New TechThe atmosphere was welcoming even the principal; I was assured a A non-Bullying policy that’s Not Tolerated but still due to this my daughter isn’t comfortable with being in school without the comfort of being close .. now I have to apply to work at a school my daughter attends so I can feel assured that she is safe from now on .. This school is not the best school in Indiana like they say Merrillville Intermediate School Is very distasteful I would recommend no parent to send their child here at allParent Review3y ago14 Reviews - Henry P Fieler Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI use to attend this school in the early 2000s. I was held back for my behavior and education. Now that I'm grown and have children myself i see where Fieler dropped the ball. Fieler can not handle children with a disability instead they will hold your child back. The school does not have the resources for children that suffer from behavioral issues. They definitely will suspend your child with no type of plan. They do not give children IEPs or anything. I would not recommend Merrillville School District to anyone.Other Review6mo ago5 Reviews - Merrillville High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhen my wife and I were considering moving from a top-rated school system in Illinois with our three school age children to Merrillville, we thought the school system was good but had a bad reputation. After ten years and soon to be three graduates, many activities, interactions with parents, students and faculty, I can honestly state from experience that we were correct. Many blame the system, teachers and etc… but the reality is that pupils get out of the school system what they put into it. Is the system perfect? None are. I’ve lived around the country. It is the most diverse in the region, and based on the amount and number of merit-based scholarships that Merrillville graduates annually get awarded to top-rated universities the school system is definitely doing a lot right.Parent Review1y ago13 Reviews - Pierce Middle School

"very horrible transportation, I feel really sorry for those who don't have cars. it's a bad , unorganized, and corrupt place to live or visit. only the other part of Merrillville is catered to and kept nice. The part that is closest to Gary NEEDS help with their unreliable transportation! Called bus company 10x with voicemail no one EVER returned my call...Sad.(sums it up)"
