"Beautiful valley, full of opportunity for hiking, biking, rafting, kayaking, fishing, and climbing in summer. Winter sports right outside your door: skiing, snowshoeing, and snow camping. Snowmobiling and heli-skiing within a mile. Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve and Kroschel Wildlife Center are located here. Long summer days produce beautiful and bountiful gardens. Northern lights in winter unspoiled by light pollution. Homes with lots of space around them, and friendly, helpful neighbors within short distances. Small schools, class sizes, and low population mean excellent, often one-on-one instruction for each student. Fire service local in this valley, and excellent, highly trained emergency medical services and well equipped health center in Haines. This valley is located just inside the U.S. border with B.C. Canada. State maintained road serves all secondary roads, generally very light traffic, mostly in summer. Parking is never an issue! One restaurant in the valley, several others in town. Entertainment and many community events in town. Award winning library, museums, and small state fair in town."
