2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have raised 3 children in the Hillside community with my husband. We had children at every single school. I am a teacher myself, as with any community, both sides need to be reciprocated parents, teachers, students, and administrators. Essentially then, all schools are successful.Parent Review5y ago4 Reviews - Deanna G. Taylor Academy

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs someone who's currently going to this school, it sucks. I regret not going to hia. Everything Is confusing, and I'm not saying this because I don't understand classes. Ola Edward's was litreally better this school. People are so disrespectful it's crazy. Like some has said here, you will get detention for not going around the giant building in three minutes, and for other very dumb reasons. It looks like a prison from inside.. and there's fights here like everyday. Please, save yourself and DONT go here! Your education is better then entertaining dramas!! You'll only just get jumped Here! Not also that you can and will get run over by cars because they don't care where or what happens to you after they dismiss you. The 8th graders are immature (from what I've seen and experienced) And will jump you if you look at them wrong. People run in the halls like headless chickens and skip classes. I saw someone vaping in the bathroom. Overall, if you actually care about your education don't go here. You will regret it. If you can, choose to go somewhere else please.Other Review1y ago8 Reviews - Abram P. Morris-Saybrook Elementary School

"Schools aren’t the best, there’s no bussing of students to the high school. Which could mean up to a mile walk or better. "

"Hillside has become such a negative place to live. I used to live in hillside for 27 years and I know what the town used to be like. I’m currently an employee for the town and I know the town a lot better than it’s residents. "

"I've lived here for over 20 years, and it was great growing up here. It's culturally diverse and there a nice little parks. The schooling system is good. In the recent years, there has been more criminal activity committed by people from neighboring communities. It's sad to see, and with my growing family, I've decided to start looking elsewhere to raise my children. I don't want to stick around for Hillside's decline. Also, there needs to be more recreation for the youth. The teenagers have no place to have fun and socialize, and they loiter with no other place to go. As of right now, it's still a relatively safe place to live. I hope things start to turn around before it gets worst. "
